It's getting easier to find the perverts and potential sex offenders in society. They are all either working for, or applying to the TSA. I mean, how could any of them resist the opportunity to engage in state endorsed molestation.

I was in favor of full body x-ray scanners as I previously said, but the whole touching thing is too much for me. I actually like Penn's reaction.
One thing is a negative image of my bones showing in a screen, another one is a guy (or girl, it doesn't matter if it's without consent) touching me just because they think they can.

I didn't think so. I just wanted to clarify. |

I haven't been on a plane in years. I used to fly all the time, but it's just not worth the effort anymore. It's only a matter of time before the TSA drives private airlines out of business and the government is "forced" to buy them out. I can hardly wait.

Or they just claim them as a matter of national security in reaction to some imaginary threat.

http://www.bostonherald.com/news/regional/view.bg?articleid=1238602 Their background check procedures are less arduous than their boarding a flight procedures. This happens to a private company, how long do you think it keeps getting contracts? |

I really don't understand the fuss at all about airline screening. Scan me, pat me, I could care less. We have bigger fish to fry. A security check seems reasonable to me when the lives of hundreds of people can be snuffed by one assmunch.

It's nice that you feel that way. Unfortunately, others have deep concerns about being groped, seen naked, and having air travel grind to a halt because this medium was used once in this country for a terrorist activity. There's thousands of mediums where equally devestating attacks could occur that are completely unscreened. |

The Libertopians want the assmunch to have the right to blow up your flight. Any search is an violation of his right to detonate explosives on a crowed passenger plane.
My God if we give up this right what's next? Background checks for police officers?

You joke, but Pat will be fine with it. It would be OK to background check cops as long as it was done by private companies of course. But if they chose not to.. Oh well! |

Exactly. If this stuff is private, I'm fine with it. Then they have the right to do search me. Then searchers would actually be accountable to the public. Then this whole security thing would actually make sense and maybe even actually be safe. EDIT: What's the point in giving background checks to police officers? They're going to do whatever they want to you anyway, and if you don't like it tough sh*t. They're the law, and you're the prole. Edited by Equality 7-2521 - November 17 2010 at 12:24 |

And yet, TSA has not caught a single terrorist with 8 billion dollars/year over the past decade. The chance of you actually being the victim of a terrorist attack in America is so incredibly small it's not even worth contemplating if people were logical and not emotional (unfortunately, they're not). And even if it were a rational threat, the screening doesn't make you any safer. Even the employees of the airlines are refusing the scanner!

Yeah, I'm fine personally with trading some freedom for security.
BUT I'd want to actually feel secure. Which I can't say I really do with the current way its done. Hell, the few times I've been to an airport over the last few years it's really been no hassle at all. Can't say they did much of anything. And even if they did as Henry said, it's not like we're much safer. People can still sneak junk onto a plane. |

I don't mind people wanting to trade their freedom away. Let airlines make their own security procedures. And then you can start your own airline and require pat-downs of every flier, and all you imagined safety before freedom people can fly on it.

I've been wondering:
Does anyone know what the procedure is for children?
I can't imagine they'd be allowed to naked scan or grope kids.
And, as we know from the Israel/Palestinian conflict, terrorists love to use kids as bombs.
So, it would seemto me that these "safety" procedures does nothing but make potential bombers younger.
It's a sick process to begin with but if they treat children the same way they do adults then To Catch A Predator needs to start filming at TSA job interviews. Edited by manofmystery - November 17 2010 at 13:17 |

They were allowed and they were doing it. Due to outrage though they've changed their policy to no screens for those below the age of 12. |
