I don't want to burn down the forests. I want people like Ted Turner to buy them up and charge admission. And yes, the TSA is terrible and needs to go.

The government already charges admission! 

I love it when the NYT makes interactive things. As you can see from my attempt, it's pretty difficult! You can clear it and start over if you would like to try, but you can see where my priorities lie from mine. :P

It doesn't give me the options I want.  Why aren't "Eliminate Social Security" or "eliminate Medicare" options, for instance? 
 
And why do they assume that reinstating any kind of estate tax is a wise idea?  No that it matters, the government has no business picking your pockets at the funeral home.

Because that's not in any way a viable option, no matter how much you wish it to be so. Most of the other options probably also aren't going to pass until we are teetering on the brink of collapse, but they're at least plausible. I hate old people too, but they're fanatic about voting!

I don't hate old people, actually.  I don't believe that SS really helps them and I'm d#mn sure it doesn't help the country as a whole. 
 
We aren't quite Greece or France yet but collapse isn't out of the question, especially with inflation around the corner.
 
The estate tax should go away, period.

Actually the only viable option is to eliminate social security and Medicare. We can't pay for them. The delusion is us thinking it is somehow possible to continue offering these services.

And as MoM said SS hurts the elderly, not helps them. All the money an elderly person has poured into SS would on average yield much higher gains if just placed in low risk investments over the course of a lifetime.

Lol I love the NYT interactive feature. You can raise taxes on something and it puts a nice number on how much this will reduce the deficit, completely ignoring the complex effects a tax increase will have on the economy. This notion that increased taxes always lead to increased revenues is ridiculous.

As if a Carbon Tax will just very neatly add $11 million dollars towards the deficit. If you want to cut the deficit, you can't tax your way out of it. You need to cut spending.

Let's have some good news then.

It seems like the TSA is actually taking heat and may have to make some changes. Finally people are catching on that nothing the TSA does keeps us safe. They're getting tired of the immoral and unconstitutional nude scanners and groping by federal agents.

Today they announced they will not longer be subjecting those under the age of 12 to this humiliation. Hopefully the public fire refuses to burn out before it takes the TSA with it.

This even made it onto the front page of Drudge today:

Pat, scanning people before entering an airplane is one of those instances when I don't have so much problems with people intruding in one's freedom. Please, I prefer to let myself be scanned than allow a muslim (or any other kind)  terrorist with a bomb in my plane... I know, I know, "the moment you sacrifice your liberty for safety everything is lost"... But can we make little, little exceptions?

I actually don't mind it. (The TSA changes)

I always thought it to be a bit intrusive but not worth it.
To this day people can still sneak things onto planes!

It needed to be fixed. Not sure if it will be but at least it's something?
I'll give up some freedom for security when I actually feel secure Disapprove

If you're getting in my same plane, you are as potential a threat as I am or the arabic guy next to you is. If I'm scanned, you will be scanned. 

I think the drooling part is nonsense. Do you really think people will drool at X-ray images? Radiophilia? Nobody cares about your or my balls and our wife's breasts... They're trying to find the gun hiding in there... 

The last part, maybe. I guess it adds some percentage of safety to the flight.

I understand that T. I'm see that just because you're willing to subject yourself to something, don't assume that I am too.

How is that? You suddenly become asexual when you become a TSA employee? A job that allows you to look at pornographic images on young children won't attract a certain kind of person? It's very nice that you trust a government employee to become a inhuman, logical, machine like gun finding machine, but that doesn't happen.

Tell me, if you're looking for guns, why do you need an X-Ray scanner. What's wrong with the metal detector?

Maybe we could allow some liberty and freedom and have airports provide security instead of the government.

I wish guns were allowed on planes. Then I would actually feel safer.
