This sounds interesting, and I copy and paste it from the website (I do not know why this is bold, I cannot unbold it): http://www.thewaroftheworlds.com/live-events/2010-11-uk-eu/press.aspx Back by phenomenal demand, Jeff Waynes Musical Version of The War of The Worlds Alive on Stage! is set to return to major Arenas around the UK (including Dublin and Belfast) and Europe in 2010-11. Following the hugely successful and critically acclaimed sell-out tours in 2006 (UK), 2007 (UK, Australia and New Zealand), and 2009 (UK, Holland and Germany), the highly anticipated new production will be invading Belgium, Holland and Ireland in November 2010, returning to the UK for a fourth Tour in December 2010 and a national tour of Germany in January 2011. Jeff Wayne will be conducting the 10-piece Black Smoke Band and 36-piece ULLAdubULLA Strings and the show will star Justin Hayward (Moody Blues), Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten), Rhydian (UKs X-Factor), Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann's Earthband) and singing and acting sensation Jason Donovan. We went to the first set of gigs in Cardiff a couple of years ago. Justin Hayward was magnificent, and the whole thing was very impressive, although I wouldn't go twice.

I would have gone as my parents live there and I could have stayed with them but I already have something on Saturday in London darn it!
Anyway I know you'll enjoy it. The Pier is only a stones throw away from the BIC although you probably know already. For me Bournemouth is one of the best places in the whole wide world.

I can't go this time round. Hopefully they'll tour again. There's obviously a big demand for it. The DVD of the show looks and sounds great. I'm curious as to how Jason Donovan will compare to the guy who played the artilary man on the last tour. For some reason I can imagine JD singing 'Brave New World'
Someone please post a review! |

Sorry for the delay.
The whole show was amazing. Musically the UllaDUbUlla strings were spot on as were the Black Smoke band. The singers also were on top form. Justin Hayward still sings from the heart especially during Forever Autumn. Mr Donovan sang and acted well as the artilleryman, he put everything in to it. Spit and all! Rhydian (X Factor) and Liz (Atomic Kitten) gave an emotional and exceptional performance for The Spirit of Man. And I cant remember his name but the guy who sings Thunder child was highly entertaining. The visuals were great. A fighting machine that shot fire from its front and simulated movement. Red, yellow, orange and brown leaves falling from the roof during FA. An exploding NASA desk at the end. Truly amazing. I went with a friend who has been twice before. She said that this was by far the best time she had seen it. I will definitely be getting tickets next time round. This was my first time live and as I have listened to it since I was eight it was a truly emotional experience! 5 STARS!!!!

Is it not Chris Thompson of Manfred Manns Earth band, who sings Thunderchild? It was on the last tour. I really like that guys voice. |
