Topic: Bass Books Posted: November 11 2010 at 14:11 |
Hello, I'm was thinking of buying a bass theory book for Jazz, but since I got no clue which books are good and which are less good, I was wondering if there is anyone here who got some recomendation for a good book, I'm just looking for general Jazz stuff, which will help me improve my jamming abilities, I'm trying to learn some more improvising tricks, and I think that giving the books a try might be worth a shot, so... Any recomendations fellow musicians?

Your fellow countryman and master bassist Jonas Hellborg, has published a couple of books on bass playing (chords, slap playing) - although not so sure about theory specifically. There are at least a couple of bloggers specialising on the electric bass, on the web who review these books.

Aww man, I was going to make a bass bass joke. Ironically that book recommends you catch them with an acoustic bass. |

I know you're asking for jazz specifically, but if you want a good book for theory (which is actually for upright bass, but I use it for electric as well), check out Simandl's New Method for String Bass (apparently I only have part 1, but it's already 120 or so pages of excercises/songs).
