It think I agree as well - it will probably benefit the site. I just meant that it really sucks for the legitimate newbies, and the people who take these polls really seriously need to get out more. TongueLOL
I'm not surprised they are taken seriously. Some polls have a lot of time and effort put into them. And as a bonus fewer repetitive newbie polls is a good thing. Furthermore these newbies will get more involved with actual discussion first before starting there first polls.

It may not surprise you that I started a thread asking that newbies not be allowed to start polls a while ago. I was told by many it wasnb't a good idea and look where we are now.Tongue

I have to say, I agree with it. Sure there are some a****les who will ruin it for all the newbies, but no one really takes those polls too seriously... (I think). I know that I will never get offended if "x band beats y band", at least. It's just for fun and good discussion IMO.Smile

Not at all. I just don't like the idea. I'm apparently in the minority, but I just thought I would make my position clear in any case. Just because you agree with/pioneered the idea doesn't mean I hold my intelligence any higher than yours. In fact, I'd say mine is much lower than 100% of the people here. LOL

I didn't say that you thought I was stupid. I volunteered that information myself.Wink

I see.

By the way, I would suggest keeping that avatar of yours even after Halloween is over. ol' Boris would look quite snazzy wearing a Santa hat come December. Tongue

Maybe Herman Munster would be more in keeping.

It really doesn't take that long to make 40 posts, a lot of forums have restrictions for new members, it's not a big deal. I don't know how big a deal poll jockeying is, but I agree with it anyway. If you really want your opinion to be known, you can still post, which is much more effective!

I think we should stop allowing new members altogether. We have everyone we need with me, JJ, Equality, MoM, Epignosis and The T.

Elvis Presley, my parrot and Osama Bin Laden would not like that.

Say NO to 2009 members posts!

LOL

But I agree that it is easy to achieve 40 posts. There are so many threads in the forum, so when I was new, I started from the top and until I reached the "Welcome newbies" thread in the list below, I think I already had about 40 posts...Embarrassed
