Oh we all know the reasons
$$$

Not to mention ta general conservative nature that does not want to see the end of the bowl system.
I'm cool with using rankings through the season, like the top 12 then playoffs from there.
I heard that once and it seems reasonable, since while the order is the devil I'd say the top 12 (or 10) are pretty much accurate.

It also eliminates the small school problem. If they go undefeated they will be in the top 10/12 then have the chance to prove if they can handle it. They make it through the playoffs, obviously they deserve it.

I honestly think Boise St is capable of playing with a lot of the big teams.

As for the bowl games, which are traditional and bring in big $ (this is why we have all these junk bowl games now) well all these smart people can figure something out.

It depends who they play of course....but I think Boise could roll with a good amount of big schools.

Boise is not a bad team. They just aren't a great team. They go undefeated by playing Tallulah High School 10 games per season. Were they in the SEC, they may go 8-4 or 9-3 -- not great, really, but not bad. They're certainly too good for the WAC, and that's why they're leaving it next year (going to the MWC). Who knows, maybe the MWC will emerge as a legitimate contender -- they're already arguably better than the Big East. Still, it will be nice when Boise gets to play Utah, TCU, and Air Force every year and then has to pick at least one good out-of-conference game. Nevada is their only competition in the WAC, and Nevada isn't particularly good -- though Nevada is also joining the MWC in 2012!

Virginia Tech, you mean. Who turned around and lost to a Div I-AA team the next week. And Oregon State, who is all of 4-3. Oh, and if you take away the first quarter of the game against VT, they were soundly beaten. I daresay that were they to play VT again, they'd lose by three touchdowns, and I don't even think VT is a great team.

People outside the West don't realize there are some pretty good players and programs out here.  It cracks me up how the SEC gets all the hype when most them schedule 4 D1-AA and lower non BCS conference teams for their OCC and claim its because they play 8 of the toughest games in the country in their conference.  Yeah?  Prove it.

There have been 12 BCS championship games. 6 of them have included SEC teams. Every single time an SEC team was allowed to play in the National Championship game, they won. The SEC is 6-0, you see, and because of this, no other conference has a winning record. In fact, if the BCS vacates USC's win (Reggie Bush was ineligible for that blowout), then every other conference would have a losing record.

Start playing 3 OCC games against BCS conferences and lets see how you do.  No one knows how good you are outside of your own conference.  IT doesn't help the reputation when Auburn and Georgia just canceled home and home with UCLA and Oregon respectively.  Guess they saw what happened to Tennessee the last three years playing those teams and decided to play NE Louisiana Tech instead. Tongue

Funny that you mention that when Boise just played LATech on Tuesday...

Every BCS conference schedule is tough.  You have to play and win on the road.  I don't see the SEC having that monopoly anymore.  As for the Boise's and Utah's of the world sure there lower conference games are pretty easy but I have noticed these teams don't shy aways from playing anyone anywhere. Right now a Boise Oregon Championship game sounds like a whole lot of fun.

I still don't trust Oregon. They win on offense, and if there's anything we know about football, it's the old adage: offense wins games, defense wins championships. Reminds me of the Texas Tech vs. Ole Miss bowl game. You wouldn't believe how many bets I won on that game.

Evan Royster (who stayed at Penn State despite being projected as a 2nd round pick) has had a difficult year running. Mainly due to the young O-Line.
Regardless he's closing in on the all time Penn State rushing record. Would be nice if he could get it tonight, prime time against Michigan

And it is done!
Congrats to Evan Royster. Penn States all time rushing leader, and accomplished in prime time.

Clap

Edit: Wow! PSU is a young team, and hopefully this game will be the motivation to get them going.
Havn't ran it this well all year. Hell, the last few years they've been so finesse, can't believe they're using power running finally!

We're back in 2002!

Oregon and Boise State aren`t bad teams, duh, for a state with a population smaller than most mid sized cities ( Idaho ) it is great to have a team which receives national recognition. Haters are just going to hate, the sec.......so what, and Boise State is a lot of fun to watch.

Fair enough.
And can't disagree with that at all.
I was glad to see them running with some power today.

I would suspect there is not a college football coach in America right now who would not give Boise state some respect no matter what conference they play in, they have not folded yet even when they play so called superior teams in high stake bowl games.

"Could play with many" is a far cry from the best or second-best team in the nation, which the pollsters would have you believe.

Damn, Big Ten is just beating up on each other this year...

Also if Michigan can ever get a defense they'd be unstoppable
They'll put 40 on ya almost no question, but will probably allow you to put 40 on them.
These games are exciting though I guess LOL

Michigan and Illinois are tied 45 to 45 and are now in overtime.  Michigan's defense is horrible.
