Yeah, I tried my best, and I think I did a pretty good job. I love all the albums on there though, inevitably, in different ways, but still they're all great. The only things that were excluded from inclusion were units of music that were not albums (hence the lack of Stravinsky, Beethoven, Louis Armstrong, etc.) |

I think that I would have to take a pass on much of that list. There are some good albums on there, but I would say that more than half wouldn't make a list that I would create.

To be fair, some music/artists that hipsters have taken over doesn't make you one for liking them.
I like Panera Bread and Chipotle. HIPSTER HAVENS Its not gunna deter me Same with music! Though thankfully I don't like much hipster music....sans all that post metal ![]() |

Also..would never be able to rank them in order...it would be just a 150 list.

I wouldn't say those were overtly "hipster" choices (you could have highlighted Merriweather Post Pavilion or others for that); you could make an argument that I'm a "progger" on the other side of the fence for including ELP, Genesis, and so many other names. You could make a similar argument if you hated all electronic music or any other genre. I tried to be as diverse and objective as humanly possible, while still retaining elements of my taste. But, if your question was more akin to have I become much more musically open-minded than I used to be, then yes, without a doubt. |

In the Court of the Crimson King should be at least 120 places higher.

*Resist urge for Chipotle*
MMMmmm being broke has upsides! And yes, Alex has become quite open minded...isn't that why you had to leave the closed minded, arrogant atmosphere of PA and the SR? Glad you've returned....I think you'll find we're open minded or at least not that caring about others tastes. With a few exceptions of course, (no names..... ![]() |

Qdoba is better than Chipotle
and the random hole-in-the-wall Mexican place is better than both. I didn't know that Coltrane is hipster.

I considered ranking it differently, but I believe its placement is just. When you consider all of the other albums that were going on at the time (and a year or two or three earlier) that were just as experimental in a rock setting, the album sort of loses some of its absolutely untouchable impact. It still was a milestone in history, don't get me wrong, but it all depends on your lens of reference. I believe Red was actually King Crimson's biggest impact in musical history, practically creating the entire genre of grunge 20 years before it occurred. If this were a "prog" list, In the Court would inevitably be much higher. Every album on that list is essential, even if it's ranked at #3 or #147. The ranking is important, but it doesn't diminish the fact that the albums are all worth hearing. |

Colin? Not exactly who I had in mind...no one that rhymes with Benry or especially Mames

None around me, especially no hole in the wall places. But I would agree yes |
