Fairly sure he's really busy with school and playing in concerts. After this week I'll be back to it, but Thursday is going to be very much ![]() |

No, Gabe plays classical guitar and tuba. Thanks for the good luck, though it's not the astro test I need it for - it's the regular physics test. ![]() |

lol ;) [i just 'membered you saying it was harder...?] Well, Good Luck either way my friend! [/QUOTE] Thanks! I thought originally that the astro class would be tougher, but it's more about our ability to read other papers and write "scientifically" about them - physics is all about the theoretical mechanics, with more equations than I'd care to think about. ![]() |

Not to be a dick, but can you guys keep this personal stuff at a minimum- or private message each other, I'd rather read about music than this stuff that is filling up my inbox. But do what you want... I'm just sayin'...
On the music front, it took me ages to get the latest Miriodor, but I really like it. Catchy and dissonant/experimental at the same time. great stuff. As far as Cheer accident goes, what can people say about them?
Also I am getting The Hat Shoes (differently desperate) coming in the mail soon, stoked....

Hahaha. NJ without malls...damn! I just assumed when the Brits colonized it they were built already...Coming with the landscape. As for the landscape, there are indeed some nice areas. I'm always been a fan of water so various places along the coast do provide a great view/arena.
VDGG better! I'm curious how well they did on that tour, as well as PH when he took a solo trip through this neck of the woods. The show I went to seemed a little lacking in crowd, surprisingly. (The back several rows were empty.) I gotta imagine they have plenty of fans who haven't seen them in America...as they've only done like a dozen hows here. And Discipline was the first prog album I listened to and then bought. I am indeed on the young side of life. 22 years old. (Prog fan for not enough of those years
![]() And oh! "Real" life I haven't been. (I tend not to believe in reality myself.
![]() ![]() And no...not really a Slapp Happy fan. A Little to poppy for my tastes. I have Casablanca Moon and Desperate Straights (of course...).
Well wishes to you as well.

I'm a fan. I'm not a master of avant-music yet, only knowing a few bands so far. Cheer-Accident are pretty good, I own four of their albums and they all sound pretty different from each other. Fear Draws Misfortune is what I would recommend as a starting point. Dissonance, some zeuhl-like sections, some great emotion here and there and cool sounds everywhere there isn't - what's not to like?

sweet. yeah, Cheer accident seems to get the most positive votes, seemingly they came into their own on this album. It's on my wish list... eventually, money permitting, it will be investigated.

Really like the last Miriodor myself avalanche - glad you like it! Others that are uo there [imho!] are 3rd Warning, Elastic Juggling [considered by many their best], and Mekano. Parade rated lowest of their discs for me. I really dig Cheer Accident also. Again, of course, they vary. I haven't heard every thing in their case, but, other than the latest, as Chris noted, Sever Roots, Tree Dies is the pick for most prog folks. Enduring the American Dream and Salad Days get my vote along with Sever Roots though. [12's on GN* scale]. * "A borderline classic. A 12 is an album that one might instantly apply the word "classic" to, but on deeper reflection, one might not be so sure. There may be slight flaws that would have one hesitate on an intensely specific and critical level, yet a 12 is still an album that would have one mesmerized." |

It is. I wasn't truely captivated with Parade after listen one. While its not my favorite Miriodor album I'm comfortable saying it's in my top three Miriodor CDs.
Oddly enough though, I played a couple of songs from that album for a friend who has no interest in progressive music and she seemed to dig it.

I got The Blind Spot for $4 on Wayside, I was a bit baffled by the overlaying vocals but I liked it. I would see them if they came by DC, but they don't seem to ever do so. They should be on PA, I think, but I couldn't be arsed to suggest them.

Hey Henry, They've been cleared for ZART [RIO]. I've written to Alec to see what their preferences are for a bio, but I haven't heard back yet. I'm sure they're busy as they're on tour. Check out The Quiet Room if you have a chance - I think it's their best [the other night, Alec said he thinks he agrees ;)]. Check out Barnacled if you get a chance too - he and they Eyesore folks are also that band, but it's more avant - very, very hip! |
