You don't need tapping, Frith style is the only way to go.

I would normally say, "what the f*ck", but it sounded kinda cool.  He kinda looked like he didn't know what he was doing though.

Damn, I wouldn't have the guts to do that with any stringed instrument.

And I still wonder how he dears to complain about not being commercially successful. That sounds like absolutely nothing.

It's not supposed to, it's free improv, that is kinda one of the ideas. Tongue

I understand what he means completely. Some avant artists give a thought and try and get out of the normal boarders of music. Others just do random stuff and expect that somebody will enjoy that. Fred did the former in Western Culture and the latter in that video.

Sorry Matt, but that does not makes sense at all.

Edit: that makes as much sense to me as abstract painting, and even animals and cildren can do abstract painting. . . .

That solo on the... well I'm sorry to admit it but I can't tell if it's a cello or a bass.  Either way, that's just rather absurd.

Does Frith normally do stuff with prepared guitars?

Okkyung Lee plays cello. I like her more free stuff better than her normal stuff actually.

A lot of his solo stuff is prepared guitars.

Fred was a guest at the Minamo concert, he played the guitar with paintbrushes and dropped a coin inside it at one point and shook it around. It was awesome. LOL
