Yesterday I was thinking of going on MMA and asking people to recommend metal even more extreme/heavy than what I've listened to.

They aren't terribly hard to get into once you get passed the initial weirdness, I think. They are very catchy.

That's what I mean.

Same with Can. I honestly don't know why people don't like it...let alone why so many seem to despise it!
It doesn't seem so far out to me....maybe I am really that weird after all!

Yeah man...here on PA we love jazz, we love classical. Musically Magma is awesome and, well I like the vocals...its pretty much scat singing. Vander style.

Stonie, I hope this Magma fa.ggotry didn't drive you off for tonight, I just got back from Fennesz. It was great, although probably the loudest thing I've ever heard. And there were no chairs. Fortunately a kind woman behind me offered me some earplugs, which killed the high frequencies more than I wanted it to, but without them my ears couldn't even process the volume. He was much more aggressive than what I've heard from his albums on youtube. Unfortunately, the first opening act was just okay (although the cellist for them is a 75 year old woman!), and the second was 50 minutes of boredom from some Lithuanian guy who was not listed on the program, performed by Janel and Anthony, who are actually ok based on their Myspace. After ten minutes every time the music got soft I was hoping they were going to fade out and then Janel and Anthony would play their own material, but nope, it just kept going.

The chanting can be hit or miss with me. For example, MDK has some amazing vocals, I'd listen to it on their strength alone. LOL

It's all good. People find it crazy...but I can't say anything.

After all some enjoy Merzbow...and for the life of me I can't even imagine why! LOL
