Okay, I think I'm going to end up ordering a brand-name 8 and sticking with it for a while before I make the jump to a 9.

I've decided I'm going with the Schecter Damien Elite 8.

It's got the right scale length I'm looking for (26.5"), and EMG 808x's, a brand I really enjoy for the killer cleans.  I think Tosin endorses the 808x too.

Ooh, nice choice Kevin, my friend has a Blackjack C7 and a Tempest Custom, both awesome instruments.
Also, I've been leaning towards one of these after playing it yesterday at the music store:

Ah, that's one of B.C. Rich's "antique" series, isn't it?

I heard they're good jazz guitars.

Yep, Mockingbird Archtop. I compared it to the Ibanez I've really wanted and liked the build and tones a lot more, although it's not available with a trem AFAIK, which kinda sucks.

I'm pretty alright without a trem.  TBH I think they're more trouble than they're worth, since I'm always messing with my tunings and stuff.

Also, moshkito quote of the day:

[Hi,]

And yes, it is "heavy" ... but sometimes things are so heavy that they are weightless in space! ...  and the point of view changes!

Hyperbasses are sweet.  Seeya Jon.

Yeah, it'll have to do for now, I guess.  I'm probably not good enough to merit a 9-string anyways.
I'm a little worried about the fret inlays... they're kinda the only thing I don't like about the guitar, but I'll bet they'd look better in real life.
Lol JJ, you find me one B.C. Rich guitar that isn't wild looking.

They've also got Damien Elite 8's in this color scheme.  What do you think?

EDIT: Omg, like ten posts went by.  Lol @ Henry's FML
