Hmm, my dad doesn't want me to go custom. I really want that 9-string but I might have to settle for 8.

How much more is the 9 than the 8?

Pricewise? The custom 9 I got quoted for 725 plus shipping. The 8's I've been eyeing have all been in the 500-800 range. Pricewise it's no problem but my dad's worried about custom ordering something without being able to try it out first.
That, and I haven't even told my dad I want a 9-string. I've told him I'm just getting an 8 from the luthier because he'd think 9 would be excessive and unplayable.

But he doesn't think an 8 would be? And if it's not a well known luthier, that is always a concern, but some of the least known ended up being incredibly famous (example: CT Basses, completely unknown before Les started playing them...he got his for $100 in a pawn store!).

Man, I'm happy I'm not in the same room as you or you'd be sorry.

I need djent, Jon. 9 is actually reasonable... you get both configurations out of an 8.
The luthier is rather new but he's a very respected luthier amongst tapstyle/warr guitar players. They're damn cheap and play just as good as a Warr.

I know. My dad has migraines frequently.
I think I had it a few times (though I suppose it's a recurring thing with many people). But I remember being at school typing something on the computer and suddenly I didn't know how to type anymore, and I had a headache like never before. It took me about 5 minutes to recall how to spell "India" and I realized it perhaps was best to go home. So I went to the place at school where to ask for permission to go home with illness, and I did not know what to say really, so I just said "I don't feel well". It definitely was the worst headache I have ever head. I also had it, less heavy, shortly after it. When I had sports at school when all the sudden my vision started to change. Only the things in the centre were well visible, everything else was fainted. That was not too heavy though.
