While it may be of interest from a historical perspective, I'm not gonna buy it.  I might buy Mothers Of Prevention in CD format, but am in no hurry.  It was fun when it came out however not an album I really need to have or hear from again.

Porn rock, rock porn...LOL

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Many thanks to the person who altered my topic title.

Would you care to come round and do my housework, too?   Smile

@Slarti......I guess it depends on the ratio of Testimony / Synclavier, for me.

I can't get enough Synclavier.....Rawks   Big smile

I feel that the Synclavier work represents a part of FZ that you did'nt get with the electric band material...
(in a compositional sense). Some of the stuff on Civilization : Phaze III just blows me away.
Downright scary...ya' know??

Wacko  Smile

As there are There are plenty of Elvis fans who will buy anything connected with the King, there are also Frank Zappa fans who will buy anything connected with Zappa.

This sounds like a similar attempt to get their $$.

What is next, Zappa on velvet, Zappa plates?

Ironically Zappa had a problem with the Republicans with censorship, yet it was Tipper Gore, then wife of Democrat Al Gore that started the censorship PRMC

Our former keyboard player told me that he was in the middle of some legal crap with WB and had to do the Synclavier stuff because he wasn't legally allowed to work with a band. I don't know if that's true or not though...

Anyway, I liked Jazz from Hell just fine, and the opening track, Night School, absolutely smokes with a killer solo in it.

Absolutely wrong.

The Warner Brothers debacle occurred in the late 70s. He was kept from recording in studios, hence why Sheik Yerbouti was a doctored-up live album. It also explains why he built his own UMRK studio. Zappa only obtained the Synclavier in the mid-80s.

However, The Lost Episodes features a late 70s track called Basement Music #1 in which FZ uses primitive drum machines and synths. Maybe your friend confused that experiment with the Synclavier.
