Topic: Mike Edwards (Electric Light Orchestra) R.I.P Posted: September 06 2010 at 03:06 |
One of the founding members of ELO Mike Edwards was killed when a bale of hay smashed through his van in the English countryside. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends including the other members of ELO and of course the fans.

He was the celloist on their Roll Over Beethoven which greatly inspired me 30 years ago. What a song and what a excellent job he did on it. R.I.P

I was listening to Electric Light Orchestra (No Answer) only yesterday and was admiring the cello work by... Roy Wood?!? How can Mike Edwards be a founding member if he wasn't on their debut album? Either way, it's always sad to see musicians pass, especially ones that played on Eldorado. R.I.P.

Perhaps not an authentic founding member per se, but Edwards was in the initial live show lineup along with Wood.

Very sad, his contributions were great.
