It's true that every sample of TMV I heard was horrible.  Yet when I bought a couple of their albums (yes two- it was a promotion and I got one free)- I bought Amp. and FtM- and after listening to them in the car and on my mp3 player while on vacation, I was hooked.

The Mars Volta is the most creative band in the 21st century.

LOLLOLLOL Women, what do they know about music...?

The Mars Volta have not grown on me yet.  I find the vocals to be horribly annoying and there is a buzz throughout their sound that I find to be annoying as well.  Some day I think that they could click for me, but that day has yet to come.

It took me awhile to find them listenable (they were actually one of my first fav modern prog bands) but they do kind of grow on you.

I have all of their albums plus Scab Dates.  If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try, try again, I guess.  I don't hate them, and I know that I should like them, but they just haven't clicked yet.  I probably just need to work harder at it.

To be honest I've only heard De-Loused, Frances, and the awful live album that came after them.

Musically I don't think I like it much, I like the vocalist a lot though. LOL There are a few good songs but the rest doesn't do much for me really.

It's interesting to see how many people there are, I know on another forum I read there is at least one couple who met through that forum.

Yeah, a decent debut, but not very interesting in the end. I've been thinking about getting the second album, it would be cool to hear the Frengers tracks how they originally recorded them.
