Funny you say that James, because I've only met people here for college from Australia, none from NZ.

Possibly.

I'm guessing it's where people say vowels longer?

What annoys me, actually, is the inflection on the end of sentences when it's not even a question being asked.  Even when it is is a question, it still annoys me.

It's rather prevalent in Australia and in my neck of the woods in the UK. Cry

And why do I always meet New Zealanders in the UK and not Australians?  It seems half of the New Zealand-born people have emigrated here.

Th' Nu Zilid accint is very nice, but it cin be quite annoyin to those who don't know it.

Who's Dave then?

I suck, I'm sorry guys. Mea culpa Cry

In the Shred, Dave is mostly horsewithteeth, but also on occasion (aka yesterday) we also get a David Trouserpress.

I think it's because the New Zealanders are not hyper-active like the Aussies.

Trouserpress is a David too.

I don't usually call either David, Dave but I do call Dave, Dave, even though he's also a David.

Most of the Australian guys I've met have been incredibly laid back, not hyper-active at all.  The guy who lives across the hall from me this year is also a bassist.  That makes three of us in three rooms right beside each other.  Big smile

Actually, I've started noticing that I call my mate (who is called Dave to almost everyone) David.  I have no idea why this is.

My only "real life" friend named David prefers to go by his middle name, Alex.  Imagine if he joined the Shred, things would get extra confusing. LOL

Cool, thanks.

So let's see if I'm making any mistakes here: Tongue

A Person - Matt
JJ - Brian
ptkc - Jordan
sleepwalker - Loek
harmonium - Alex
any colour you like - Ben
NC - Kevin
Triceratopsoil - Colin
horsewithteeth - Dave

Am I forgotting anyone that isn't obvious?

@ James: The Great Vowel Shift  I was wondering if it was possible that some people moved to the US before that change occured, and that might have influence the languages differently. Like the difference between France's French and ours in Quebec. I read somewhere that there was a bit of a shift in pronunciation after the French Revolution, but since we had been cut off for a while after the British Conquest, we weren't "told", so of course we evolved totally differently, but there's a bit more of King Louis the XIV's French in ours... Who knows...
