If this carries on, my favourite subgenre will be represented in the semi-finals by a band I don't even like...

No vote.  I've had Riverside on the little list I take into record stores but haven't had any luck finding a copy of anything.  I agree with the early commentator that PoS is a deeply unfortunate set of initials.

Off to the sidelines, eyeing the papers for odds on the next round.
The damage that we do is just so powerfully strong we call it love

The damage that we do just goes on and on and on but not long enough.

Can't vote as I have not heard any PoS.  Rush vs Porcupine Tree will be exciting though.

Riverside for me. I don't like PoS much... I'll try to listen to them again sometime, but they've never clicked with me

I've tried for years to get into POS and they just do absolutely nothing for me. Not a thing. I find the praise heaped on them rather baffling, to be honest. I like Daniel's contributions to Ayreon, Transatlantic live and the Hammer Of The Gods tribute show, but POS.... nope, just can't like them, and I wish I could. I've tried. Riverside don't blow my socks off either but they're pretty good, I can enjoy them a bit more.

Riverside it is. Sorry, POS fans, I know they are the center of your world... but the rest of us scratch our heads, to be honest.

No vote for me - I've heard no Pain of Salvation, and nothing about Riverside really impressed me when I listened to them.

I have contrary remarks. After Be I had finished my short adventure with PoS. It seemed to be too pretentious and like puffed-up balloon for me.
So obviously went with Riverside.

This is a toughy really. Both bands are huge and deserve every respect. But I have to go with Riverside in the end. These guys are simply sensational !

Well that's true... they really have been developing somekind of pretentious atmosphere through the years. but you can't deny that they're brilliant musicians and their concepts are really deep

Wow, big win for Riverside, I really didn't see that one coming.

Poll's over.  The winner of R2D13 of Battle of the Prog Bands is Riverside.  They will now move onto Round 3, and Pain of Salvation is out of the tournament.  See you at the next match of Battle of the Prog Bands!

I'm shocked Riverside won ...  Objectively speaking, they've never done anything close to as musically accomplished as BE for example. Subjectively speaking, they've never written anything emotionally engaging and certainly not the level of songs like "The Perfect Element" or "Beyond the Pale" imo.
