Matt, what do you think of that Cynic album?

It's great, 4 stars I think.
It's good, though not really my taste. I rated it 3 stars I think. Sometimes I feel the technicality really overshadows any kind of atmosphere or emotion on that album.

It's cheesy.  Especially the vocals.  I hate vocoders. LOL

That's what she didn't say...

At least it's not as cheesy as their previous album.

Actually, this one is critical of religion.  Evil Smile

Responding to the new Atheism thread in song form?

Nah.  Just feel like confusing people.  LOL

Seriously, this music just calls for a biting censure.  Scott may be interested to know that I wrote this music four years ago when I first bought my Fender Geddy Lee jazz bass (which I have since sold, and I will be re-recording everything).  It's a short little rocker with a fiery guitar solo I really like.

Hm, sounds intriguing.
I don't understand the need for re-recording.  It sounds like perfection already.

Of course it does (need re-recording, that is).  I had even less of an idea of what I was doing then than I do now.  LOL

The vocoder works well on some songs I think.

I hate Road Salt One and I haven't even heard it and don't plan to.

I hate PoS now.  They sound like Kings of Leon now, from what I've heard.  Especially the Road Salt single they tried to get into Eurovision with.

Seriously f**k off PoS... Angry

Yes, songs not by Cynic.

Like Air's Sexy Boy, for instance.

Thank God I'm not the only one.  Although I don't really hate them, I've been continually let down at everything past Remedy Lane.

Yep, their last two albums have been terrible.

I never did get to hear Be.  Maybe I should be glad of that now...

I still think their debut is their best.

Entropia is my second favorite behind Remedy Lane.  The Perfect Element is good but kinda pales next to those two.

I've not heard Road Salt One yet.  Scarsick was my first negative experience with POS.  I really hated it at first.  I've given it some more recent listens and it seems to me that there are a couple of really horrible songs on Scarsick that ruin the whole experience, but aside from those 2 or 3 really bad songs the rest of the album isn't too bad.

I actually liked Concrete Lake too.

Remedy Lane had the best PoS tune and one of their cheesiest (before the release of Scarsick).

Which is the best off Remedy Lane?  My favorite was "A Trace of Blood."

Scarsick has a few good tracks, actually.
