The coolest thing we have hear is a CD store in sydney (4 hours away from where I live) which sells mostly prog and metal, and have 3 random CD's in an envelope for 5$, I usually grab one when I'm there along with whatever else I buy.

Hai Matt.

There's not even a place in my "town" that sells music of any kind. LOL

Either that or the feds are on to my evil plans to destroy all wombats.
I'm guessing it's the latter!

That 3 random CD's thing looks cool. I've got a few record stores 30 minutes of biking away from me. They've got some nice stuff, but I left there way to often with empty hands.

Naww, you want to live in Sydney, not Canberra. Canberra is either cold or on fire and only has one decent CD store, Sydney is pure amazing for everything compared to Canberra. Meshuggah and ISIS did signings there earlier this year, and their owner gave me a 10$ voucher for their store when I did a business case study on them for my business class. Awesome store.

The best record store remotely near me is an FYE that's like 50 minutes away.  They have lots of cool prog, metal, and prog metal, but even then they still don't have a ton.

There used to be an Amoeba records about a half hour away but it closed Cry

Now, the only record stores nearby are three different Best Buys, all within 15 minutes. Angry

We only have one record store here that isn't part of the major chain in Australia. It sucks, because the major one is too expensive to use for buying anything now. (new DVD's are 30$, new CD's are 25-30$) and the independent store doesn't have enough stock or stuff that I want to buy. There's about 5 or 6 stores in Sydney (4 hours away) which have everything I could ever want to buy.

Man, tell me about it. We have like 7 of these in my state, and it's the smallest as far as landmass goes in the country.

Yeah, there are quite a few big chain stores here that don't have anything interesting at all. I bought PT's The Incident there the day it was released though.

Twice a year there are some gigantic record fairs here though, which I often leave with quite some CD's.

I usually just buy albums online/wait until I got to Sydney (usually every month or so) then buy 4 or 5 albums. I occasionally buy locally, although their selection is getting worse and I already have most of the albums that they stock from artists I'm interested in. They have some great sales, though.

It's usually cheaper for me to buy albums international + pay for shipping than it is to buy in store in my state, which kinda sucks.

Not to shabby.  I'm not sure if they're your thing or not though.
