I must be insane. Not only have I ordered Recordings, Insurgentes, and the Opeth DVD this month, but I just now ordered the limited edition LP Opeth boxset as well! LOL Could not resist the lithograph, and special artwork, etc. I don't even have a record player! But I am interested in finding a cheap turntable somewhere. So I can start on my vinyl collection. I really need a better job, so I can keep up this record buying obsession! I have about 400 CDs, a dozen or so music DVDs, about a dozen or so MP3 albums, and one Blu Ray (Anesthetize special edition). Soon to be 4 vinyl  LPs (Opeth). My uncle's worse than I am. He stopped counting how many albums he has after about 10,000!

Your job can't be that bad, Kashmir! LOL

I also need to find a "working" record player... I recently hit a gold mine a few days ago at a local yard sale: Original vinyls (and in good condition) of nearly all early Rush, Nursery Cryme, some Uriah Heep, latter day Zep, Kraftwerk, Jethro Tull, and loads more.

Can't wait for the Insurgentes movie!

Next on my wishlist is a working vinyl record player. I want to buy or scam my dad's LP collection. When we moved house recently, we found a big box of his records. Original pressings of Led Zeppelin IV, Black Sabbath's debut, Dark Side of the Moon, The Yes Album, Focus, etc. I was stoked! I need this stuff for my collection! My mum has a load of probably ultra rare Beatles vinyls, too.

I'd get a few PT vinyls too, if I had the means to listen to them.

I knew there was a reason I kept my old turntable!  Smile

As long as this doesn't end up like the Anesthetize Sp. Ed. did, it'll be alright.

I think they're saving their money for something big to happen in 2011.

^I know! I don't get why they wouldn't film the biggest concerts of their whole career. It seems like a no brainer. Film it, release the DVD. We want to give you our money, PT!

I wish they did, it'd be horrible to have no live document of The Incident... We have one from the Deadwing tour, one from the FOABP tour, but none from The Incident? It's my favourite of the 3 albums, too...

They did only say 'film', not 'record'....

/Seemingly fullish optimism

I think it is likely, since we've already heard that several earlier concerts on "The Incident" tour were filmed, that they will be releasing a concert DVD; it just won't be taken from the Radio City Music Hall or Royal Albert Hall concerts.

The whole album has a cinematic feel to it, and with SW's admitted love for film, combined with his interest in providing soundtracks for film, I think it highly unlikely that an Incident concert DVD is not ultimately forthcoming.

Than again, it could be simple wishful thinking on my part.  ;-)

Aaaaaaaaaand....

Almost every PT show is recorded for the the archive, so an audio live release might be possible. We have many Incident shows recorded. 5 minutes ago via TweetDeck

Perhaps not such foolish optimism!

Awesome. I've been praying for a live Incident recording. Shame there won't be a DVD though. Seeing them perform The Incident in its entirety was one of my highlights of this year. I'd love to relive it on DVD.

I'm just as insane - in addition to all the other SW and PT items I've bought over the past year, I just bought two copies of the Insurgentes DVD plus two tickets to the US premiere in NYC, which happens to be three days before we see PT live at Radio City Music Hall.

And you are definitely NOT insane for buying vinyls, even without a proper turntable - my greatest foolery was in allowing my former spouse to force me into giving away most of my father's collection, which consisted among other things of over 4,000 first press jazz 78s.

At this point, my vinyl collection is much more modest, but I still have many (though not all) of my own early prog/British rock collection, as well as a couple of hundred quite diverse albums from jazz to classical, show tunes, folk, rock and comedy, inherited from both of my parents and given to me by friends.

Yeah, I thought I must have gone mad, when I started adding vinyls to my music collection recently! (I turn 28 tomorrow, and I barely remember vinyl when it was in vogue the first time around!) I need to get around to buying a turntable sometime!...

I got two copies of the Anesthetize DVD (grey edition, and the standard instore release, because I couldnt wait!)

I might get my copy of Recordings in the post tomorrow. My own birthday present to me! Should be nice!

I sure hope so!

Maybe in 2012? It is the band's 25th anniversary that year, after all! Wink
