I'm even keeping the title legit so as to not cause an international situation.

Teams? Opinions? General thoughts about anything?

The NY Giants defense was beat up last year, but they should hopefully be healthy, new coordinator, and the new giants stadium is HUGE.
Hoping for a much better year, especially on defense.
Curious to see the Jets, Bengals, Eagles and Redskins performance this season.

I think the Giants will be the worst team in the NFC East this season. I have no faith in their defense and some concerns about their running game. JPP I'm pretty sure will be a bust. Not that I care though.

I think the eagles will be in the 8-8 to 10-6 range. I don't really care about results this season. I'm just excited to see the new players and have them develop. I'm more concerned about two seasons from now. It's a nice feeling after the years of McNabb and having to keep expectations every year.

Well I'd say that goes to the skins. They got a lot of problems and McNabb plus all those old/not so good RB's are only temp solutions., and dont even address the problems. O-line and defense
Eagles will have a decent year for sure, but no doubt they are a bit in the building process. Got some good players though.

JPP won't play much anyway. They have Tuck, Osi and Kiwanuka. Now JPP. That's FOUR defensive ends. I doubt he'll get a lot of playing time unless he turns out to be a stud. So thats whatevs
The Giants' D was playing with injured DE's, a LB corps that was not good, and the secondary got wrecked.
Assuming they all recovered from injury they'll be fine. I mean all teams have bad injury years, I can disregard it....but they need to step up and new players be developed.

Your LBs really concern(delight) me.

Don't worry they won't be as good as ESPN thinks they will be.

The LB's are the weak spot on the D
Pierce was damn good but he gone
The rest are young/not so good.

Its a concern.
Hopefully the Giants d-line will be back, and we can get through the season with mediocre LBs

And I just hate the Cowboys, but no concern at all about them.

I will go out on a limb and say that the Lions will win at least 1 game this year (counting the preseason).

^ i still am football fan.Approve

A pretty good one too since my teams are UCLA in college and The Raiders in the pros. LOL

Hope springs eternal and I think it may be founded this year in both levels of the sport for me.  Now that Jablatto is history in Oakland we might have a real QB in Jason Campbell and the defense has been throughly upgraded.  I know it is just pre-season but we held Dallas to 65 rushing yards. The Bears had that one play of 85 yards for a TD but the rest of the game only had 87.  We also have recorded 12 sacks in two games.  That is very encouraging. Plus I think the AFC West is weak and the Raiders have a good chance to add some wins in the division this year.
As for UCLA Rick Neuheisel has had two very good recruiting classes and now has a little bit of experience mixed in.  If the depth can hold up on the OL the offense might be decent this year.  The Defense lost a lot with Brian Price and Alterraun Verner leaving but they have enough to have three guys who are already candidates for All American status.  Now that the Walls of Troy have collapsed things might be looking up in Westwood for a change.

I am looking for a good year.  Smile

Thats the spirit! Clap

And Garion...I thought last year showed the Raiders, though a bit dysfunctional, may not be so far off.
I think they have some really good players. They dropped JaMarcus...(worst QB of our time? LOL) and I'm not sure how their O and D lines are...but they mat not too far off from a decent season.

As for college, I was only a casual fan (and that was only because I was in collegeLOL).
So, in regards to that...I'll keep rooting for Penn State though I think they'll have a bit of a down year probably.

I'm hoping the Falcons will do better this year...we've got a sharper defense and Matt Ryan is maturing so hopefully that will be a combination for success.

Would you like some Bailey's?

The University of Michigan have been a real downer the last couple of years on the college level, and I'm not really expecting much of an improvement there.  I think Rich Rodriguez needs to go.

The news outlets are doing their best to spring hope for the Lions this year.  Apparently, Stafford is much better, this Best at running back is quite good, our receiving core is supposed to be quite good.  There should be a lot of offense in the Motor City this year.  The defense on the other hand appears to be as porous as ever.  It is really funny how all of the talk was about how badly we needed to draft Suh with the 1st round pick.  Which is cool, I think he is going to be good at his position.  But then a month after he is drafted I am listening to the radio and they are saying don't expect to have Suh make an impact for a few years.  It is basically his job to be double teamed so that the linebackers can make tackles. Therefore, he won't make many tackles during the year.  And as far as sacks go, they were referring to some the great defensive ends like Reggie White and saying that they only had 2 or 3 sacks in their rookie seasons.  It took a number of years before they learned their techniques to increase their sack output.  I suspect by then, Suh will be playing alongside Rogers in Cleveland or some such thing.

Anyhow, there is some optimism here in Detroit.  There is thought that they could be a .500 team and maybe with a little luck here and there sneak their way into the playoffs.  Personally, I've been here, done that before, and will believe it only when I see it.

I' gunna hurt ya
..
I like ya

Sorry, sorry.
I like the falcons. They now have one of my fav backs (Michael Turner) and a potentially potent offense. If things get clicking they could be dangerous.

As for the AFC I do think the Ravens are going to be scary.
Bengals will interesting at the least LOL
And a lot of people are high on the Jets, right fully so...but they don't have quite the same team.
Not sure if their D and power run game will be as sharp....but if Sanchez develops more they will be good.
He should make up the difference

The Lions had that good year in 07 with Jon Kitna and a good offense. Then the nose dive...

I would say the lions would be around the .500 team if they had an O-line.

I'd agree....but they don't have one.
They could also use some help on D but they did get my favorite college player this year with the #2 pick....
So thats a good start

What do you think about the discussions to increase the regular season from 16 games to 18 games?

Hmm, sounds like one of those obvious goods...
I mean more games less pre season!

But I do agree with the NFL some time needs to be taken to think about things like roster size and maybe more flexible IR lists. More games = alot more injury chance.
Stuff like that...but seems like a fine idea to me.

More football!

It would give the Lions something new to strive for.  Last team to an 0 and 18 season is a rotten egg.
