Open note to the driver of the District Line train who dumped us off at Dagenham East in the snow last night. You ensured us 3 times that there was a Hornchurch train 3 minutes behind. There wasn't.
There was another Dagenham East train 5 minutes behind, but then we had to wait for that to reverse back out of the station. It was 11 minutes before another Hornchurch train arrived.

My wfe bought me a new phone for my birthday in December, a Sony Ericsson C510. It's a sexy mama with cybershot camera, walkman, bluetooth etc. My old phone had some credit left on it so I didn't actually start using the new phone until 25th January. Less than one month later it has already developed a fault! I can't charge the thing and it has to go to the Tesco repair shop. Tesco have a rigid returns policy... outwith the 28 days they allow for returns you are Censored! I'll now be without a phone for around a fortnight. Ok, it's not a disaster but boy is it annoying.

Sony Ericsson support team advised me it was most likely a software problem and that i could fix it myself if I bought a compatible usb and downloaded software from their website. I did this only to discover that the phone needs at least a 50% charge to do so! So, I'm now £10 out of pocket in addition to the phone being out of action. Tesco helpline then advised me that trying to fix the phone myself with downloaded software can actually cause more damage! Sony Ericsson's phones suck and so does their customer support.

Anyway, I've wasted a valuable rest day so enough is enough. Just wanted to let off some steam. Next time I'll go for a wee diddy £10 phone.

I must say that I´m really upset by everything on TV here in Finland. I think there ain´t one good show running. It would be nice to sometimes watch something that even remotely funny or otherwise worth while, but everything just seems like complete rubbish to me.

That´s all I have at this time.
I like my eggs boiled and that´s it!

^^^ You should check out TV in the UK sometime. It's mostly appalling.

In the UK, we seem to have some strange fixation with dancing on TV at the moment. 'Strictly come dancing' 'Celeb Strictly...' 'So you think you can dance' 'Dancing on ice' and now I'm told their making one for disabled people, called 'Dancing on Wheels' I sh*t you not.

Now, I'd never begrudge the disabled any opportunities open to the rest of us, but really, what is this fascination with prancing around in tuxedos, and frilly dresses??!!! Whenever I switch the box on, there is some pair of idiots twirling around, and a panel of grinning judges, acting like they are presiding over something Earth shattering. Time to move on, folks...

I inadvertently caught a few minutes of Celeb Strictly at the weekend... a ghastly new low in TV banality. Some guy with no natural co-ordination 'dancing' to The Rhythm of Life by Sammy Davis Jr and Jo Brand telling the Grumpy Old Women what great dancers they were despite the overwhelming visual evidence to the contrary.

I don't know how these people can bear to look at themselves in the mirror. If they had a shred of human diginity left they'd just do the decent thing and commit suicide.

"So you think you wanna die..? Celebrity suicides"

The way things are, we are less than a decade away from this.

Another TV hate of mine is 'Embarassing bodies' I cant get my head around why anyone would want to go on television to talk about their mis-shapen scrotum, or genital warts. It's something that you would discuss with your doctor, and literally no one else, unless your life depended on it. Maybe, I'm wrong, but I'm unable to make the connection between disgusting body problems and entertainment. I guess they're trying to encourage people to have conditions checked out and treated, but it is presented like entertainment, not medical advice.

Another fantastic idea to save the planet from the UK government.

Telegraph

The good thing about this is that it's not just another cynical ploy to steal money from people, because they're short of cash. It's a genuine move to pursuade people to be more green, because our government really gives a sh*t about such things. Of course motorists will flock on to our wonderful trains in response to this, because the srvice is so reliable, and one of the most affordable in Europe. Another good thing about this proposal is that in the name of equality - very important to the coalition - the managing director of the company can pay the same levy as a part time contract cleaner earing 1000 times less than he/she.

^ we pay £29,300pa to EHDC in business rates (£250 of which is for a "kitchen" measuring 4' by 8' that constitutes 1 sink and 1 electric kettle) - levying another £3500 for 14 parking spaces is just backdoor 12% rate hike.

/edit - of course this won't lead to motorists adopting public transport since the levy is on the available parking spaces and not on the cars that use them - what are we expected to do? Put lawn-chairs and picnic tables in the spaces and designate them "staff canteen"? - no doubt there is a business rate levy for that too.

I can see large companies like ours bringing in Pay & Display machines to recoup this levy from their employees. Where I work, the bus service is appalling and expensive, and therefore not a viable alterantive to using the car, for most people.

I'd be happier if they just said 'Look we need dosh, so we're going to raise it by doing this' rather than dressing it up as some good intentioned green initiative, which it is clearly not.

^ If it was a green tax or levy, then the money raised should go too addressing green issues....planting trees or something....I don't know. In this case it obviuosly won't.

Can I have a general rant at drivers who cut the corner while you are approaching a junction?

They are turning right from their road and as you swerve to avoid them they look at you as if you are in their way!!!!

They cut onto my side of the road!!!!!!!Angry

I agree - stick 12% on the business rate openly and fairly - if we can't pay we'll downsize or move.

One council is proposing the levy on any company with more than 11 parking spaces - we have 14 spaces and 9 employees - so that's £390 per car, not £250. P&D machines would mean our visitors would also be expected to pay and our salesmen would have to pay in every company they visit in a day. As I said in the UK Pol thread - tabloid politics and not thinking things through is the bane of this country. Little wonder UK manufacturing has been in permanent recession since the 70s.

Yeah, that really p!sses me off. It happens a lot at the turn in to our local Sainsbury's. You can excuse learner drivers for misjudging the tight corner, but it;s usually people in 4x4's or bloddy great white vans, who dont give a toss about anyone else on the road.

I'd like to moan about Car Insurance companies.

Only due to the fact that my car has recently been hit up the back, when I wasn't in it and the other vehicle didn't stop and there's no witnesses (well, there is but they didn't see the other vehicle).

It's looking likely that my lovely car may well be classed as a write-off due to its age.  The damage isn't that bad and it's drivable but the repairs may exceed the price of the car. Cry

It just annoys me that an accident that was not my fault causes me to lose my car, when I cannot really afford to get another one right now.  I realise they may send me a cheque, but still.

Of course, I could get it repaired privately and yes it may cost me more than the car is worth but it's my car, I don't want it scrapped.

Anyhow, we shall wait and see what happens... I think I may have to remove my car stereo though. Ouch

They actually replaced the unit (after the fifth time it went out).

It went out again Saturday, and the man said there must be a leak in between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit.  They have to contract that work out.  In the interim, the guy put more freon in the AC.  Well now it's out again.  It is hot.  Stern Smile

My wife bitched out the guy over the phone...it was a DAY-UM moment for sure.  She doesn't mess around.  She has bigger ones than I do.  Embarrassed
