I don't get how people think free-jazz is avant-garde.  It's just music; it's practically easy-listening!  in a  good way, though

Herbie Hancock almost got me killed last week. LOL

How's that?
I got home from work and I had a Herbie album (not a very good one at that) blasting from my stereo.  I heard a couple of claps of thunder but that was all.  In the meantime, two tornadoes touched down within about 10 miles of my house.  I was kind of happily oblivious.  It actually never actually rained at my house so I was in no immediate danger but apparently the tornado sirens were going off and needless to say I didn't hear them.

At least tomorrow I can record some guitar/drums!
Also take more pretentious pics of me in the woods.

My narcissism can't be quenched! Shocked

I believe that it is the most hated place in Canada for most Quebecians but I am following the Tigers up to Toronto for the weekend.

I was expecting it to be more abrasive, like Albert Ayler. It's not even as weird as some free improv I've listened to. LOL

On one hand, you miss the warning, on the other, you don't worry about it. LOL

Montreal only hates Toronto when there's hockey game. Tongue

Sorry I can't recommend any place to eat or anything though...

Only been to Canada once. Toronto & Niagara Falls.

Toronto was quite nice, but I would like to see other places.
Montreal, and especially Vancouver. People I know that have been there always rave about it.

Quebec City is quite pretty too.

You're more likely to be served (and understood) in English in Montreal and Vancouver though.

I'll take that as part of the fun!
I still want to go to Europe and more or less gypsy around.
People ask how will we get by without knowing the language but thats the journey!

And I bet Quebec City is safe. Er, I hope at least

What? No, you're just wrong. Everything is "just music". What, exactly, is more difficult than free jazz? If your only categories of difficulty are Merzbow/everything else, I think you should rethink your categories. Although I will agree that most of the early stuff like Ornette Coleman is surprisingly tame for modern ears.

I've been to Toronto a number of times.  It's closeness to Detroit makes it a nice place to vacation on long weekends.  I generally like to go there when the Tigers are in town, but the last few years they've been there in early April and I am way to busy at work then to get away.  Hopefully, it hasn't changed too much.

We are hoping to catch the musical Rock of Ages while we are there.  It sounds like something that is right up my alley.

Exactly.

Opposed to a small town in Italy. Then I may be in trouble LOL
Though I did enjoy Toronto alot. Also stayed in the hotel in that stadium under the CN tower. Watched a blue jays game from our room! Would like to see some other places though, do not touristy things. Just enjoy whats there by itself.
