This works, at least in Australia. My cousin who works as a paramedic told me they use it for accessing apartments/hotel rooms/office floors when they get called to. |

I think he means the close door button. I read in the New Yorker that in most elevators it doesn't even do anything, it's just there to give the passengers a sense of purpose.
