You can manage that with a regular bass and an effect pedal.

Victor Wooten annoys me on bass - he's the bass equivalent of a shred guitarist IMO, most of the time he's got all technicality and not enough feeling to match it.  I used to love his solo albums and I still like his work with the Flecktones, but I don't ever listen to his solo stuff anymore.
