Everyone has had 3 years to fully take in and appreciate 2007's two film masterpieces; There Will Be Blood and No Country For Old Men.  Which one do Progarchivers feel is the better film?

I, of course, will be voting for No Country, and I assume Henry will be voting for Blood, so it's all up to you non-film-related-avatar-havers.

Blood: more potential vs. No Country: more accomplished. I'll vote for the latter, but both are great.

I voted for Blood, mainly because I find it more unique. (Both movies have a brilliant ending, by the way.)

If you said that Daniel Day Lewis gave the one of the greatest performances of all time in TWBB, I would agree.

The 2 movies in question were without doubt 2 of the best releases that year, but to put one above the other - very difficult; Daniel Day Lewis put in a career defining performance (an I though Bill The Butcher couldn't be bettered), but at the same time the Coen's outshone themselves as well...

...can hardly fit a fag paper between them, but on balance, I'd go for No Country For Old Men, purely because the entire cast were superb, whereas No Country For Old Men hung on DDL alone.

Also, you didn't really expect me to vote against the Coen Brothers, did you?

Overall, No Country for Old Men.

I respect both films and think they're great, but I wouldn't particularly say I enjoy them very much.

I would say that.  I would also say Javier Bardem gave the one of the greatest performances of all time in NCFOM.

You'd be hard pressed to find a year with better Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor performances.

It is really a shame they didn't come out a year apart so both could have swept the major awards for their respective years.

The same here, specially in the case of NCFOM. I vote for TWBB, which was better in my eyes and had a story I could enjoy much more. The acting by Day Lewis was superb.

I love No Country, and quite desperately need to see Blood.

Hm, this is damn difficult.

I'm going for No Country, but honestly its just a gut instinct.
Both are great films though!

Tough call.

No Country has an aspect about it that makes me want to watch it all the through, especially on repeated watchings, similar to Pulp Fiction. However, I wasn't all too thrilled with the ending. Conversely There Will Be Blood has a better ending but doesn't entice me to watch it all the way through again.

So I suppose I'll vote for NCFOM.

Both were good, but Blood made me think more, and was more memorable in hindsight.

Agree, I come back to that movie more often, whereas NCFOM I rarely watch.
