I saw Converge last year when they opened for Mastodon and I thought they blew d*ck.
Then, a while ago I found out how highly praised Jane Doe is among almost all metal circles (with the exception of maybe ours), I bought the album. It's energetic and for the most part entertaining, and the lyrics are fairly intelligent, but I don't understand why it's considered a "masterpiece". Nor is it ever possible to understand the lyrics anyway; I had to look them up. |
Honestly, I think part of the joy in Converge is the fact that the vocals are mostly atonal, and therefore indecipherable. And seeing them headline made them even better in my eyes. I guess metalcore just isn't your thing.

Metalcore definitely is NOT my thing. My limits don't go past BTBAM, Burst, and Jane Doe.
I kinda have the same problem with mathcore stuff.
