Flagellation?
Q: Why are you hitting yourself?
A: Because it feels so good when I stop!
Q: Why are you listening to that?
A: Because it sounds so good when I turn it off!
But seriously folks, I do like some older metal and hard rock: Sabbath, Rainbow, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, ACDC, Zeppelin, etc.
Generally though, most (newer) metal is too hard, fast & aggressive for my tastes -- it makes me anxious. I also find it hard to relate to the lyrics -- all that angst and supernatural stuff does little for me. (I find it juvenile, to be frank.)
Still, I can't deny the visceral power of metal guitar -- but not too darned fast!

Old man Actually Sabbath, Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple etc are great. Some of my favorites. Not to mention the classics of metal. Then again fast and aggressive also works!

It's okay (and true) -- I'm about to hit the dreaded 5-0... and I don't mean as in "Hawaii."
I finally "went all the way" and shaved my head today -- fickle hair! Tomorrow, I start combing my eyebrows upward.... (< (my new look)

My dad is 51 and still kicking strong. Doesn't listen to metal though. Well, maybe some "classic" hard rock...but I often cant tell the difference between some classic rock and metal. Like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith etc He likes the Doors and ELO anyway I may be young Peter, but I know what Hawaii 5-0 is.

You're not "young Peter" -- but I was. (You need a comma there.)
As in: "Let's eat, people!" (an invitation to lunch)
Vs: "Let's eat people!" (an invitation to cannibalism)
And as far as being young goes, believe me -- you'll grow out of it....

Damn it Zebra Although I like the sound of "Chain Metal" myself It's slow and crushing like doom metal, but all strings are tuned so low they are dangling. The drumming would be real loose too. *Checks internet to see if it exists* But it will, it always does

Of course not. Maybe you were enjoying fresh air but we had the whole "genre's suck I only use like 4" but cmon its fun. I mean krautrock? Zeuhl? Its all prog. Oh, and I never was a fan of Deftones, but Adrenaline I like.
