| Simple mathematics here.
If Ommadawn has Chain mail armor (-3), and you are using a weapon that does 1d4, it will be very difficult to beat him, especially trying to whittle down someone with a 23 Constitution.
That said, you actually got 2 or 3 natural 20s on that with maximum damage (4)- but it still wasn't enough.

Now you tell me... Would I have been better off using my short sword and buckler then?

| Absolutely. Not much better, mind you, but better. Had you pulled max damage on a critical hit with that, you would have done 9 damage ((6 x 2) -3).
And you might have parried blows.

| Yes, always think of your opponent's armor. If you are using a dagger (1d4) against someone wearing Splint mail (-4), you shall never do any damage unless you pull a natural 20, and even then damage is not guaranteed (you'd still have to roll higher than a 2).

Exactly... I wouldn't call that easy maths. Still, I do have Amygdala still. I really need some gold so I can buy another slave.

you'll have scalemail but so be it, there are more than one way to skin a raccoon- you didn't post using your buckler, and I've got an axe .. I do kinda hope one of us goes off the edge though, that'd be fun

The answer is the sweet refrain, ladies and gentlemen. And that sweet refrain today may be the bloodcurdling cry of a warrior falling 300 feet onto rigid concrete. Few fighters are intrepid enough to brave The Pinnacle- this is her maiden fight, and we shall eagerly see- and hear- what she has in store for us. Neither man appears to be afraid of heights, and Aristillus jumps right in. But he misses and teeters on the edge. Taking advantage of this obvious opportunity, Mei slices Aristillus down the backside, prodding him to his premature doom.
Victor - Mei Loser - Aristillus (Death)
