I'll add some very basic descriptions

If we go from right to left (as it were):

Most Right:

2012 (Hypothetical) Tea Party. Socially conservative, economically "conservative"
2010 Republicans ditto, but less so, allegedly
1948 Dixiecrats, Socially conservative, but economically not what the Republicans say today
2010 Democrats: supposedly socially liberal, economically right of most world parties
2010 Green Party: more socially liberal, less economically right, relatively speaking
1924 Progressive Party: basically liberal socially, fairly to the left even for its time economically
1912 Socialist Party: a moderate socialist party / progressive party. They were very socially liberal and wanted to reform the economy significantly, but very slowly (over hundreds of years), however, they used left language in this category more than above parties.

While the name "Dixiecrats" is pretty great, I will go with the Tea Party since they most closely represent my beliefs. I wish "Bourbon Democrats" was an option. I like them.

1924 progressive party

Though Eugene V Debs did run from jail, and still got 900,000 votes!

Debs ran from jail in one of the three elections around that time, I think it must have been the 1920 election. He received that high number, but I believe his biggest percentage was in 1912, which was slightly bigger. The party itself was at its height in 1912, with hundreds of thousands of members and scores of newspapers, state legislators, mayors and councilpeople. By the end of the decade they also had two congressmen.

Unfortunately, the War and the Russian Revolution caused splits and the Red Scare, which tore down the SP's dream for a peaceful march of reform. The SP was a shadow of itself by 1924, when it supported the Progressive Party. It never again got close to its levels of success in the 10's.

Arm each candidate with a butterknife and put them in a steel cage. Fight to the death. That's my kind of election.

Why are so many people voting for the Tea Party? The Tea Party is soooooo duuuuuuuuumb. I'd use the r-word, but Sarah Palin might read this and make me nationally famous.

I'm probably not going to vote...

I like Black Tea, but that means it's racially motivated tea, so the Tea Party wouldn't like that kind of cultural subversion.

I wish there was an anarchists party.

The best party name I've seen is the Politicans Are Crooks Party.
