Yep, but I don't find it terribly insightful, because I hear those opinions constantly on every TV show and every newspaper every hour of every day of my entire life.

also, I took a class in Marxist theory. Know thy enemy, eh?

I seem to recall Marx being fueled my typical BS about the human condition that ran rampant in Europe in the 1800s. I will not expound because thinking about my 19th century philosophy class is enough to make my dick fall off. (re: humor, Pat )

I read the Communist Manifesto and was surprised at how frank and "out with it" it was. Then in college I read more of his stuff and god its terrible. Even the manifesto is pretty much bullet points and one liners.

The moral of the story, and I truly wish I could state it in Aesopian terms, is that we're screwed. Maybe the Tortoise and the Hare never complete the race, and just start litigation (no offense to Ivan intended ) mid-stride. I don't know what it would take to dismantle down to a reasonable degree what we've worked ourselves into. Corporations are negligent. Da G'ment is ineffective for solving real problems. I dunno, take to the streets. Street Fighting Man. Same as it ever was.

Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

I'd agree with that. I honestly think we really are screwed at times. Joy!

Das Kapital makes nice reading before bed, because it will surely put you to sleep. FWIW, Engels was working his ass off so Marx could stay home and write.

Yeah, Marx was just flat out a terrible writer. And doesn't that make sense....lazy communist gets all the credit for siting around.
I never knew, what exactly did Engels do? It seems that Marx gets most, if not all, credit. Someone once told me Engels was just the publisher really, but unless Karl was feeling generous why would he have credit for writing it?

Jeez, I'd have to go back and look, it's been a while since I studied this. I do remember that he held menial jobs to pay the bills for the two of them. I think he was, in modern terms ha, a facilitator, one who truly believed in what his colleague was doing and made sure that happened.

Figures, someone truly dedicated to someone's beliefs working to get it done...and Marx gets all the credit. But then that means that most likely no...Engels did not actually write anything? Though if not, Engels name was still on there I suppose

Chomsky is good for that, too. Not that he isn't on the right (left) side of the issues and gifted with words, but his prose makes my brain hurt.

It's nice to have a thread where fascist, confused, and libertarian can come to discuss governance.
Got to get going to my evil, elitist game of golf. Back later

Can't say I have any rich pals but I do caddie for the very wealthy when not on vacation. Actually, if any of you out there don't believe that money trickles down then you should caddie for a year or so. You may just want the government to let those evil rich people keep more of their money so they can spend it on all the little things (like golf) that keep people employed.

Oh yes, being a seasonal caddy is the example of a job that will take millions out of poverty.
