Also, I would like the American version to be stricken from the records

Then you can't call him King of the monsters, singe the US version is the only version that ever called him that in the title. Wink

They had to add Raymond Burr in it to sell it to American audiences. He wasn't in the original version.

Oh don't be kind, your check was sodomized, wasn't it?  By an atmospheric skull playing a grand piano no less...

The first King Kong film was great as was the Peter Jackson version. All the rest were pants though.

The Japanese Godzilla films are great fun though and more SFy. I'm one of the few fans of the Matthew Broderick Godzilla too.....love it.

So Godzilla wins in that scenario.

If you're a good boy, I will telle you about the Son of Kong, directed in 1933 by Ernest B.Schoedsak...
And my vote goes to King Kong, as the original movie generated less goofy sequels than the saga of Godzilla.
If anyone has ever seen the son of Godzilla, you know which horrors I'm talking about...

I haven't seen it but you must understand that you are talking to an old fan of monster movies, and I have most certainly heard of it.

surprised they haven't made a movie of this.. but then again we'd know the way it would end

Godzilla would smoke King Kong...

King Kong would have the upper hand in the climatic final fight in the mean streets of Tokyo when Godzilla breaks out the secret weapon.. he'd drag out some blond bimbo out of a subway car and King Kong would go all emo and Godzilla would bury him..

Unfortunately, I had a big argument with a former friend of me who wanted me to write some reviews of various Godzilla movies a few years ago.

So, my opinion about everything Godzillean is biased. I vaguely remember having watched, terrified, 3 or 4 sequels which were lame and ugly but I don't remember which ones - and I won't phone this former friend to ask him the references (plus, I suspect him to have taken his VHS to the garbage can).

Well, they didn't have to, but they did choose to. Wink It had already been broadcast in very select venues in its original form, but I guess they felt the general US audience wouldn't accept the film without a white guy as the star.

''Gojira'' is a classic, plain and simple. Much darker and with more focus on the humans' suffering than the US edit, in my opinion.
