They're also $80, which is a big price tag to attach to this project for me.

Being more or less industry standard, however, you will find a lot of use for it later in life You'd need some sort of recording interface, though, and that's where it gets expensive

I play drums. Also guitar but very badly, and mainly rhythm guitar-esque metal (w/ weird terrible solos) I do want a decent mic eventually since I plan to record in the future

well, for drums you either need a wide-angle mic (as opposed to uni-directional) or at least 4 microphones...

Rock Band mics are surprisingly useable, HTcF did a couple demos with one. Better than the onboard mic from our bass player's laptop, anyway JJ, if yo want an upgrade some sort of portable field recorder is probably the cheapest alternative worth getting Jon - D: Upright bass in metal is the awesomest thing ever

So anyway, I'll probably check out what we've got here this time next week, and record a couple guitar solos or something, then maybe contribute a track if I get around to writing/jamming out anything

My next goal is to create some ambient spaced out hippie folk synth stuff, like a mix between Early Marc Bolan and early Tangerine Dream.

Nice.
By the way, I sang bass in a choir for 6 or 7 years. I'm not interested in lead vocals, but maybe some backup stuff

We should list instruments beside the member's names on the first post

That could be useful. So that people don't have to search through my various posts to find what I said I'd be able to contribute, I'll post it all right here: fretless bass in cello tuning 6-string bass (unlikely) upright bass kazoo (unlikely) trombone (very unlikely) banjo and violin (possible, though unlikely) bizarre falsetto vocals Powerful Beard

Ease the beard on slowly. If you hit us with all at once the world may explode
And OK, this is what I can contribute: Drums Guitar (new, not too good, used to playing metal rhythm guitar/bizzare solos) just so ya know

Don't worry about what you're used to playing - I play mostly randomly improvised stuff that generally turns into semi-mediocre attempts to play Magma or funk bass.

Fretless bass Guitar (if needed, I do play some metal, I could help with riffing) Vocals (growled or clean, if needed)
I'm working on some very low-tuned bass noodling to go with ACYL's Phase I right now, to make it sound a teensy bit electro-ambient. Then I need to put them together, get a Mediafire, and I'll hopefully have something to put up tonight.
