^ Well, of course it is. Which is why this poll should have been naming operating systems to begin with, not terms used for describing hardware.

Well every PC thats been in my house over the years (probably about ten) has died within three years of getting it and given me problems consistently any time after the first few months.  My brother got a Mac at least five years ago and it runs perfectly still, I've had mine for two years and it runs perfectly.

I'm going with Mac.
Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

Same story with me, bro.

All I can do is vote in favor of my own experiences. Based on that, Macs have seemed to be the better choice. For me.

If I had the option, I would pick none. Every computer completely f**ks me every half-year or so.

But since the poll names platforms not operating systems then we're free to talk about the platform AND the software it runs AND the megacorps who make them AND the Joes who buy them, because I don't think anyone can talk about the hardware in comparative terms any great detail beyond Macs look pretty, PCs don't.
What?

^ Well, I think the poll actually did mean OS and not hardware, but vague terminology was used, for whatever reason.

Well, since Teo said "Mac blows windows out of the water"  in the OP I'll concede that he meant the combination of platform AND operating system, though I do question the conclusion he's arrived at.

I also question claims of relative reliability and stability.

The majority of PC unreliability (in my experience) is caused by viral infection failing to do the job it was designed to do and just end up stopping the OS from working as it should, which results in instability. Macs are only virus proof to the extent that most viruses are writen for PCs because PCs are a larger target audience at the moment. Mac viruses, trojans, worms and malware have been around for several years - when the installed base gets big enough Macs will get targetted more actively and they are only slightly more robust than PCs at defending themselves - which is a function of the Unix foundation OS X is built upon, not of OS X itself - given time and effort virus writers will find their way around that. Most hackers are Linux/Unix experts - at the moment they are using that knowledge to target Linux-based Servers and Internet hosts to deliver anti-PC payloads - it's only a matter of time before the payloads will be platform independant.
What?

^ Oh for pity sake.

Modded PCs are the equivalent of this:

...now show me a good looking (and dare I say "pretty") off-the-shelf PC Stern Smile

...and please, not Alienware - they may appeal to an 8 year old, but damn they're butt-ugly.
What?

There is nothing to give up. I made a statement about what I think the poll was actually eluding to. People use "Mac & PC" all the time as the equivalent to "OS X & Windows". I'm not arguing or even debating, anymore. I'm talking. Is that allowed in your world?

I made the poll. I don't give a damn about Linux yet I included the option "other". PC is of course applicable to every personal computer but every person with 1% desire not to be an *** knows what I'm talking about (a computer based on windows operating system). The same for Mac. Damn! AngryTongue

Am I allowed to quote your post and comment in your world?

I disagree anyway....but only the thread creator can answer that question.

If it was my thread it woulkd be "Mac or PC"? As it is here.
