Maybe so....but its bad for baseball.....What happened to developing players out of your farm system? So many teams are just looking for that one dream season.

I guess if they continue to go over their salary they need to pay more of that luxury tax/fee to the league.
I guess then what is the need for scouts, if all team owners are gonna do is wait for the players to develop on other teams, have the big seasons then offer them $$$$$$ to "come over to our team..."

I just wonder how many teams will get close to bankruptcy due to spreading out millions$$ of salary to players over 10-20 years.

Its an endless conversation........

Never said it was good for baseball. Quite the contrary I dont know how many other Yankee fans will say we need a salary cap.
Though I do like to take the middle ground, while I think its kind of sickening what the Yankees do, (the team I grew up with in the mid 90's was certainly not done this way) until the rules are changed, I do hate when people just disregard a win as "pfft if "X" could buy a team wed be good too"  I mean...if ANY team had the ability to do the same theyd take it in a hearbeat.

And to be fair the Yankees "core" (Jeter, Posada, Pettitte, Mo) have been there for a long time. There was A-Rod....but hes a lifer now. Cano, Gardner, and others are home grown. Not to mention names theyve aquired for relatively small money or "everyday" players theyve picked up that fill huge roles, even if not for all season. And lots of pitches tend to come up from the yankee farm, even for just a few games.
So yeah, when they go big they go BIG and will buy the Sabathia's and Burnetts and A-Rods...but thats not the whole team.

Not that they are winning as of late anyway LOL

Don't get me wrong..........I am not one of those Yankee haters, I agree they are doing what the rules allow them to. I would certainly prefer they loose a lot more just to help more players out get to the big dance.
Jeter is 100% Mr Baseball.....he should be the face of MLB...they guy is simply amazing and 100% crystal clean.
Sorry A-Roid has doped and I just can't bear that he will hit 600HR soon....I also don't observe Mr Bonds as HR king.....That still belongs to Henry Aaron...but that's another topic and is my opinion.

Oh yeah just playing devils advocate.
Frankly I think Yankee fans should hate it, as I do. Makes a lot of people discredit them since "lol they just bought that team" and its not how you build a team anyway. I hate how they can go but a player, with enough $$ to feed a small nation.....not to mention its what $90 if I want to go to a game Angry

Here you go.....just what I was talking about with regard to these prima-donas looking for that big payday, and how A-Rod's original Texas contract (bad for baseball....) is causing major issues with other players owed money.....Mark McLemore played with Sea and is not even playing anymore is still owed $940K.......let alone A-Rods $25MM.....
But all within the rules of the game.......Selig should be shot for approving the A-Rod deal back then.

Oh and about that 600th HR coming up.
Yeah Hank Aaron is still the HR king.

Shame is much as I never liked him, always thought A-Rod was clean.
Granted, as far as I know..... he wasn't juicing all his career, but who knows.
Is a damn shame anyway.
And just to touch that quickly, that whole thing was a fiasco.
I hated the guy...but Barry Bonds was sooo used by MLB. Years of knowing, gets the record than BOOOM, suddenly hes slapped with it all. And even though I think the roids are wrong, that original report back in 03 or whatever was supposed to be private.

A-Rod's name "happened" to get leaked Ermm

Meh, Im rambling. I just watch it as is and dont think about baseball anymore. I love it too much to stop, but if I think about I get really pissed. The roids, the money....
Oh, and I take solice in the fact that Jeter is clean. He may be the only one, but at least he is Smile

But I will always watch it

Tight game all day, 1-1. But Yanks did what they always do...wear the opposing pitcher out.
7 runs in the 7th and still going. Approve

Well its why I still play baseball in the adult leagues, since about '95.......I can't play softball, don't want to, can't hit the ball anyway. I grew up playing hardball and I will die playing hardball....Its a great game.

Big business has just made it a money monster I guess....

My father actually just joined a 40 and over league. Was tired of playing with 20 some year olds. Glad to see you still play!

Agreed about hardball and softball.
And the $ of it all does sicken me, I just block it out.

As for watching....at least A-Rod is playing well. Still swinging well, getting hits driving in runs etc
I remember when he was on an inhuman streak. Then got to HR 499 and took 2 weeks for him to get a HIT.
Thank god hes not freezing up this time, at least right now. Love him or hate him, a key part to the lineup. More than I used to give credit for.

Gotta agree with Henry Aaron. Still #1 with Babe Ruth at #2.

A Rod is worried about 24.9 M still owed to him from the Rangers? With what he is making from the Yankees why doesn't he just write it off as a loss? It is not like he really needs that money. Does he?

The Rockies knock out 11 straight hits against the Cubs to set record. It looked like batting practice in a 17-2 win.

The Cards beat the Buccos 1-0 in 10 innings. They acted like they just won the World Series. With the infield in and a man on third, one out Ryan hits a hard ground ball that got misplayed by Walker. Ludwick scores and they go crazy. Well pitched game on both sides.

I just knew that last night was going to be an ugly game. I was hoping that with Suppan pitching it was going to be a slugfest. It was. Cards 11-1 over the Buccos. I was hoping for something on the lines of 11-10.

Ugly weekend. Swept by the Cards and now the Cards face the Stros. Talk about getting a break with the schedule. The Reds got the Buccos now they got some easy games it seems.

Another loss for the Buccos. It's fun going to their Facebook page and reading all the comments.
