I like Ian McDiarmid as well, I just didn't like him in the new trilogy; not really his fault, more of the scriptwriter(s)'s fault.  He was great in RotJ, though.

I think the bigger question is: who is a better female lead character - Princess Leia or Frodo Baggins?
