UK avant-proggers a.P.A.t.T. are currently seeking donations towards an ambitious concept album project. You can read a little about it and make a pledge here: http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/apatt You won't get charged unless they reach their target, so you're effectively just purchasing the album up front (if it gets made) as well as helping them to fund the recording process.

I realise they're not a well-known name round these parts, but their first album "A Black and White Mass" is one of the finest examples of genre-splicing insanity I've ever heard and they deserve a good ol' plugging, IMO.

In addition to the tracks on the pledge page, there are plenty of samples on their myspace to give you a fuller idea of just what this band are capable of.

Why was this moved to "get the word out"? I have no involvement with the band on any level, I'm merely sharing some prog-related news. I would've thought "band announce intention to record prog album" was a pretty perfect fit for "prog news".

It has to be a band people care about. :P

I seem to be the only avant fan who is more annoyed by multi-genre music than anything else. But I hope they get the money, every dollar to them kills a major label just a little bit more.

if you own a sodastream i hate you

I hate it when it's done badly, but a.P.A.t.T. really make it work by making it just one of the weapons in their arsenal. All the wackiness is pretty surface-level, and behind it lies some well-crafted and sometimes rather disturbing music.

Ooh, the myspace samples have piqued my interest; I'll see if I can toss in 20$ or so.

Not sure why this was moved either; my thread for Tartar Lamb 2 (a thread about a nearly identical topic) has been in the prog news section for 2 or 3 months...

Yeah, it's baffling. Time to fire off a PM, methinks.

As far as I can see, a.P.A.t.T. are not listed on the site, are they? The prog news section is for news about bands we have added here.

Happy to be corrected here if they are on the site.Big smile

Hmm, no... I remember discussing them with the Avant team a while back. I'm not sure whether we reached much of a conclusion, but having almost worn out my copy of "A Black and White Mass" these past few months I reckon it's time I made the case for them again.

Oh great!
I tried to start a thread about these guys when I joined the forum yesterday.
Funnily enough that was also moved.
I joined up because I obviously like lots of prog (!) but I thought their would be at lest something about aPaTt and Im kinda shocked their not being talked about more.
didn't find this thread yesterday but so so glad to find it today ;0)
i LOVE Black & White Mass too- probably their best album, although i absolutely love there earlier stuff too- there all so different from each other, as well as from pretty much every other band.
I'm going to look into this pledge thing now- sounds amazing! dying for some new stuff from them i am!
thanks ;0)
