Given the recent thread about LotR vs Avatar, and even that some people in the thread showed some interest in my mention of Pans Labyrinth, I thought I'd do this poll too. As a matter of fact, I was among those who found it too hard to separate the LotR story, but I guess it would be even more difficult for Pans Labyrinth to compete with the whole trilogy. So, what do you think?

I do think both movies are comparable. To begin with, they are both Fantasy movies, and they are both very well made and with a very serious aproach (which is not so common in fantasy movies). Though indeed they had a very different budget and aproach to the Fantasy element.

Very, very hard poll. I'll choose PL.

It's interesting to see Pans Labyrinth beginning so strong, I wonder how it will go on. As a matter of fact, I like better LotR, but am really glad that PL is well apreciated. It wouldn't bother me if it won.

I really liked Pan's Labyrinth, but I also found it needlessly bizarre.

The Fellowship of the Ring gets my vote.

I guess I'll be giving my vote to Return of the King. So, this question I already made in the other poll, but here it comes again. Do you think the fantasy in the movie is "Real", or did it all happen in the girls head?

I love LotR, especially Fellowship.  I like PL, but didn't see why it was received as well as it was.  It was good, though, don't get me wrong, but not great.

It was as real as the human imagination, which is capable of creating the unreal. Wink

Even though Lord of the Rings was a monumental cinematic achievement in scope and scale, nothing can compare to the sheer simplistic beauty of Pan's Labyrinth.  Guillermo Del Toro is one of my favorite directors just based on that one film.

Surprised no one has voted for IMO the best LotR, The Two Towers.

LotR has some pretty impressive pictures in it, but Pan's Labyrinth is actually a great movie.

Pans Labyrinth, because LOTR could never have lived up to my expectations.

The Lord of the Rings were enjoyable entertaining etc.  But Pan's Labyrinth is fantastic and 'Needlessly Bizarre' and a far better film.  Loved it!  It's all real by the way! Wink

'The Devil's Backbone' is great too - but less bizarre!

Yeah, but still I like Pan's Labyrinth much more than Devil's Backbone.

If Lord of the Rings as a trilogy were an option, this would have been tricky. But no individual part of the series competes with Pans Labyrinth.
