I have never been able to understand why Selling England is the Genesis album that gets all the accolades. I have listened to it numerous times, and I love both "Dancing With the Moonlit Knight" and "Firth of Fifth", but the rest I still have a hard time getting into. Foxtrot is my favourite of theirs by far. I mean, it's not like that album is considered terrible by and large, but we're talking about relative popularity/rating here.

Close To The Edge... Very good music yes, but it feels sooo incomplete as an album..

Agree with you on The Wall. Snowgoose is a little "soft", but Moonmadness remains as Camel's true masterpiece. I can get into Wish You Were Here more readily than Dark Side' due to its varied styles. And Le Orme's Felona Y Serona is as good as the group gets and well within my top 20.

SmileI too feel Jim Garten has hit the nail on the head in this debate. No longer the youngest, I quite often pull out my favourite tracks throughout my prog collection and make my own samplers. I basically listen to what I like best. The music that makes my hair stand on end, gives me goose pimples. Therefore under or overrated doesnīt come into play. Itīs what you love that matters. Your own personal world of music.

Porcupine Tree's Fear of a Blank Planet and Eloy's Oceans. Love both bands to death, but these 2 albums are amongst their poorest work in my opinion, not best Ouch

In Abstentia is underrated as far as I'm concerned.  Brilliant album.  Best of SW.

Love The Wall as well, more so than most around here.

But I will decline to end your life at this juncture.Wink

Probably you didnīt gave them the time they need to breathe, just like a wine. I didnīt like Porcupine Tree or Opeth or Joy Division (just to say some of the bands i absolutely love now, even though i donīt like all the discography). They need to be discovered - for example the album that got me into Opeth was Damnation and for a lot of time I never really liked the rest of their albums, but that one got me into the band and made me wanna ear more.

I would give another chance, specially PT - try the sky moves sideways or stupid dream..

Overrated would be giving something six stars when you can only give five.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I think the most overrated albums are "Dark Side of the Moon" & "The Wall". I much prefer "Animals" & "Wish you were here"

We really do like to drag the corpses of old subjects from the ground and dust them down to show the children don't we? That said, it is a fun corpse isn't it?

Overrated albums...Hmmmm; Queensryche and Operation Mindcrime spings to mind but probably only because two of the guys in my band used to try and shovel it down my throat back when it was first released.
