Meh, thats not bad Slarti but they would become corrupt in power. I say we should arm the poor. THAT would get some results, and we can take government out of play. Let the people compete! Edited by JJLehto - July 23 2010 at 13:20 |

I started that test, and I got to this:
A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system. That's really a question? ![]() |

Nah, its a statement.
![]() Someone out there believes it, OR they give it no thought and say "it would be easier" ![]() Its not perfect but for an online thing, pretty good and fair. I think everyone ended up where the expected. As opposed to one which I ended up as a Statist...then after answering the same but altered a bit I was pretty libertarian. ![]() |

And this...how do I even answer this?
It is important that my child's school instills religious values. |

Is no question Robert. Is an statement you can agree or disagree with. It's a valid question to test political positioning. Of course some people think a one-party solution is the answer (if not, there wouldn't be one-party systems around) but it's a much devalued idea, and rightfully so. Though at times I tend to think a good party would be better than the atrocities that we have here...

But I don't agree necessarily. The problem is how you define "religious" here. And to what extent? Also, the question of homosexuality being natural...how can that possibly play into the graph? I believe homosexuality is natural but I believe it is still sin, so the question of people being "born that way" is moot to me. Ah well...I didn't think much of that poll, particularly the way many of the statements were phrased and the assumptions they are clearly making. |

Nobody said this poll is THE ultimate test for political orientation, but it's fun and gives a decent idea.. Though you Robert ended being less on the extreme libertarian side than expected.. I actually ended up more to the lower side... Maybe my lack of religious principles makes me more of a "anything goes" guy... (not criticizing or valuing your position or mine, just explaining...)

Yeah, I thought a few were a bit unnecessary.
Also: Most of them are slanted ! Some right-wingers accuse us of a leftward slant. Some left-wingers accuse us of a rightward slant. But it's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass. Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy. Incidentally, our test is not another internet
personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model
for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it. ![]() Edited by JJLehto - July 23 2010 at 13:43 |

I took it again and got a lot less Libertarian than I thought I would. Probably because I'm against abortion and believe criminals should be punished. But oh well.

OK this was pretty epic fail.
I thought this was one the better online quizzes but its pretty biased/screwy. Guess we're too smart for these simple statements and answers |

I mean it put me in the quadrant I expected it would, but other than that it was sort of a mediocre exercise.
