^Charities... I hate that word when it's used as something a society could really live based upon. You really think charities solve anything (besides making selfish people feel right about themselves of course)?
You're just upset you don't have all the money you work for in your pocket MOM, let's agree on that. |

There are differences in perception and concepts and upbringing that will never be bridged between you and me on this issues. The government cannot be a charity, but it can administrate social policies.
Of course, I support charities but not as the only solution.
Curiously, what I told you to go tell the unemployed woman was not even commented by you. I guess the libertarian mentality is not difficult to figure out.
Whatever I have to go to work right now. To earn money for me and to pay my taxes.

And yes, lots of people looked down their nose at me and made it seem as though getting a job was like picking a piece of fruit off a tree. I had submitted over 125 applications and resumes during that time. I got a total of four interviews, and none of them worked out.
But none of that changes my principles...nay, it only served to reinforce them.

We cut out a load of stuff from our budget. And some folks helped us out from time to time. We "flip-flopped" on our bills (paying one thing one month, then paying a different one the next such that everything was perpetually past due but no consequence other than some late fees came of it). We also had our car repossessed. We ate a lot of pasta.
Yes, I took my unemployment benefits.
Eventually I saw a commercial on TV advertising a service. I looked into it out of curiosity (not trying to get a job with them, really), and found out I could work for them from home. I did and made peanuts for months often working 15 hours a day. People noticed my diligence and a few months in I got a promotion, and then 7 months after that I got another promotion, and now all the bills are getting paid.
It was very hard and I lost a lot of sleep. We're still not "well off" I guess, but we're in the black, and after that long nightmare I am very grateful for that.

I have never accused you of inconsistency, for sure.
At least you probably have an idea of how it feels. Now remember: not everybody is made of the same material as you. I'm not talking about lazy-ass people who would surely take unemployment benefits for life if it was possible. I'm talking about normal people whose bills pile up and without a job and benefits would collapse (and their families).
Only those fit enough to withstand anything should go on? Too much like survival of the fittest for me. Obviously, I can't agree with that. But I still applaud your consistency and your strength.
Now if I don't go quickly I may be requesting unemployment benefits myself very soon  |
