Anyone here ever heard Serge Gainsbourg's conceptual album 'Histoire de Melody Nelson' ?
Another prog-related album is 'l'homme à tête de choux'.

This is indeed a very prog sounding album. Probably Gainsbourg's magnum opus. Shouldn't be overlooked by anyone.

We do. Our policy is that one prog album is enough to merit inclusion of a band/artist to the database. BTW, BUMP! I just downloaded and listened to the album in question again and I can see him here. Very good proggy album albeit very short... And it was actually Lucas who started this thread but he accidentally posted as me.

Y'know, like site policy says... I mean, our aim is surely to be the most complete progressive rock site minus all those stupid odd albums that pop artists released... we don't want those...

^ When somebody say this, I always have on my mind José Cid, his only Prog album among many Pop albums (as biography states, I don't know his other albums).
How is it then, PA wants sole Prog album by Pop artists or not ?

This is an album I'd like to see in PA and have used as an example of an album that I think should be here and would be suitable for a new prog album-based category that works similar to the Various Artists category (a category I've really pushed for but most don't seem that interested about). Also, Serge Gainsbourg collaborated with Jean-Calude Vannier on this album and have mentioned that perhaps this could be added to Vannier's listing. Although Vannier's name is not mentioned on the cover, I have read that he was originally to be given due credit as a collaborative album on the cover (Vannier arranged it).
As for whether one prog album should be enough, I think so, but others disagree, Still, I prefer the idea of a sole-"prog" album based category for such efforts (rather than a band/artist based category). WIlliam Sheller's Lux Aeterna is one I've been very keen on seeing added to such a category.

I'm assuming (though I haven't heard them, so I could be dead wrong) that they're all non proggy albums. Going with the same logic, listen to Invisible Touch or Abacab and let's discuss Genesis on PA.  As for Serge, after hearing Jean Luc Vannier's album I've checked out various bits and pieces of "Histoire de Melody Nelson", I'm in agreement that it would be a good fit here somewhere. I'm just not sure where.

BUMP!! Time to revive this suggestion. Just listening to the album in question. So, has it ever been considered by any genre team or at least for Prog Related? What's the consensus?
