Calm down... Once the redistribution machine kicks in, you'll take part of those 40.000 dollars... In fact, as you don't have much and they have a lot, we'll make sure their earnings are split at least 60/40 with you (they work for it, so we'll give them a little more...)

to me that's the one benefit of communism - you can bet i'll be sitting on my ass doing nothing Wink

Pat, you are so unbelievably short-sighted.

I have a case of beer to drink and a stack of video games to get through.

Once again, there's a post in one of these threads that doesn't make any sense.

We feel that the child raping scum should be either killed or locked away forever, regardless of how good his movies are. (at least I do.)

Got my annual letter from Social Security telling me what I've "paid into" (like it was my choice) the system so far in my life.  Sigh, do they really have to waste more of my money taunting me with paperwork telling me exactly how much money I'll never get to actually see?  Hell, with my limited needs I could damn near retire on what they've taken from me already.

But you did agree to it! The government asked you the day you were born, they took your response as "sounded like yes" and there you go.

And I was joking about my taxes, but I remember it used to be clear...like I thought it said "medicaid" and all that. This makes no sense....all I see is "fed withholding" "fed MED/EE" "NJ Unempl EE" "NJ withholding" "NJ OASDI/EE" and so on

Wacko At least I wish I knew what all that sh*t is. I am assuming the fed and state witholdings are...income tax? A payroll tax, but MED....ugh...what is this? I don't even....

Now if only at the bottom they said "remember, taxes are a social contract, while you may not like it (and who does!?) do keep in mind that it is going for the common good, and while you may not need some these services now, maybe at some point you will" Wink
then in fine print "WHAT? So what if you never agreed to this "contract" accept it or you will be sent to Sweden and then you can enjoy a 60% tax rate" LOL

I've been working 25 hours a week for 2 years and I've never gotten this letter! Could it be because my idiot corporation misspelled my first name (they left out the letter o) and so they don't recognize me as actually giving them any money? ffffffffuuuuuu Because they're never going to change it. They mixed up the first and last name of my coworker, and she's been trying to get them to change it for four years and they won't f**king budge. You'd think they would want it to be easy to change a god damn typo.

I understand the need for taxes and blah blah blah, but Social Security really is BS. When it started, the average person was only going to get it for about 5 years and then die horribly of polio or whatever. Why did people agree to that when there was a good chance they would never see it or only see it for a limited time? I guess because at that time they were already old or almost old and they wanted to get money from young people...

The problem is not paying into it so much as the near-certainty that you will get less out of it than you paid in.

I do assume you of all people get the Futurama reference, since apparently you've watched every episode till you died.

And if you wanna get serious about things...

Weird that Opeth calms me?

EDIT: Left out the letter O? Your name is not actually Henry Plainview!?

Nah, I watched a bunch of Futurama on Netflix but then I got over it, Matt Groening's style of humor gets really repetitive.

Seriously though, look at this guy
Doesn't anybody else want to punch him? Although he's probably dead now so I guess that's some consolation.
