You can chalk it all up to the owners, agents and the players egos that say that they have to make more than the guy in the next locker. How can anyone say with a straight face that A-Rod should make more in a year than Mays,Aaron,Mantle or Ruth made in their entire careers? |

^ A-Rod...heck we owe Milton Bradley $11million this year...WHAT!!! I am not sure what our share is with the Cubs for him but even if we are on the hook for 50% of it, its 40% too much.....I mean why in Gods name should he even think about doing any better this year....??

A Moment of silence for long-time Yankee owner, George Steinbrenner, who died this morning of a heart-attack. He brought a struggling franchise back to glory, winning seven world series titles. May he RIP.

Farewell Mr. Steinbrenner.
It should be interesting to see how the franchise fares in the upcoming years.

George changed baseball for better or worse. Like other sports it is no longer a game but a business where the players are more interested in financial security than the glory of the game. He did make the Yanks a credible team again but at what cost?
This is not the game that I grew up with as a child. There are great players these days but there are greater egos as well. RIP Georgie |

It's hard to imagine how the Yankees got into such a said state prior to George buying them. I don't think that anyone these days could buy a franchise and turn it around the way he did. Talk about the right place at the right time. What was it.....7 or 8 million for them and now they are worth 1.5 billion. |

Yeah, I will be the first to admit I was spoiled....in my younger days I was one of those who were legit pissed if they yanks didnt go to the world series. But remember when I was growing up, (lets say 1996-2003) the team that I was raised with
My dad would always say how they sucked in the 70s and 80s, the field fell somewhat into disrepair. It really does amaze to imagine it. No doubt, George's impact, good and bad, is huge |

They are off being just as boring scoring 100 pts a game as soccer players are scoring 0 goals a game. Whoa, a 6'6" guy dunked on a 10 foot basket! I'm riveted.
At least with baseball the 30 second highlights are interesting.

I did get to see a little bit of the ASG at work. I am glad the NL finally won one.
The Buccos picked up where they left off before the break. Not likely that they will match the Mets for losses but 110 is looking possible. |

Buccos win 2 in a row!!!! They're getting hitting and pitching for a change, although it is against the Astros.

Ok...touché...but basketball players are still the best athletes in sports.....I'm a huge baseball fan, don't get me wrong...but don't get up outta that seat and go pee or get a hotdog, or you'll miss that 30 sec highlight live and have to catch it at home on ESPN.
Pretty expensive hotdog to miss a highlight at $30 a seat!!
