England is the smallest of the big ones, I will say then.

The English have a style that I usually like, leaving me with great memories after many matches, whether they won or lost. Such great matches that I saw: England-Argentina at WC1998, England-Romania at WC1998 and Euro2000, England-Germany at Euro1996, England-Portugal at Euro2000 and Euro2004, and some other great matches in the qualifying stages for various tournaments. Not to mention many other great games from WC1986&1990 (great team), WC 1970, etc. They are a high profile team at least because of this aspect.

Can't argue with that Teo.

England's record at tournaments is abysmal.

There was genuine belief in the country that Capello would continue the form the team showed in qualification but yet again they froze on the big stage. It defies all logic.

With that I agree, they have had many great teams but usually didn't win at top level, which leaves behind other trophy  holders.

Capello would never succeed. No foreigner has ever won a world cup as a coach. Check the 4 semifinalists. Capello's style is ultra-italian, they need to give 2737282828282828 to Alex Ferguson and make him their coach.

England won ONE world cup centuries ago with help from referees. They have never won a Euro. England is up there with the big ones only because of their 1966 win. They are, statistically, not even close to Germany, Italy or even France.

I completely agree, that one goal is no excuse for their terrible play this tournament..remember they lost that game FOUR to one...they played like crap all tournament.

How about rescuing Steve Nicol form the MLS and giving him the job. Even though I'm a yank, I am NOT a MLS fan at all!!! I watch the BPL and other international leagues. Nicol's done a lot with very little here in New England, was a Liverpool hero, and certainly knows what it would take to coach the English team.

Go Germany! no hard feelings (though it is the second time in a row they send us home). I just hope that the team that has played better so far gets to the finals.

No former English star ever becomes coach? You'll have to wait till Paul Scholes retires.. (if he ever does...) Tongue

That really would bring the end to English football! Shudder the thought!

Maybe he should start with the US with Victoria looking after the WAGS. Tongue

Can we stop talking about what a waste of space the England team is please.

I can't make up my mind who I want t win tonight.  I prefer Spain.  But, I would like to see a Germany Netherlands final!

I suppose I can't lose in that case.  I think Germany will win  (4 goals again?).

Come on.  Should be good!
Help me I'm falling!
