And com'on, how many red cards have you seen for "chilenas" kicking the faces of an opponent. I'm not quite sure what the rules said about it, but I seriously doubt it was a red card. What? the player of Uruguay have eyes on the feet or what...?

I am an Argenitan fan way more than Uruguayan man, but the way the lost was so clear who was better. Today Holland didn't play the way the want to, Uruguay take the lead after they make the goal and then it was a well balanced match until they committed a goal in a clear offside. Then of course, Holland played the way the wanted. Just like Brazil, when they are winning they do feel like they are great until they are down, then the team shows their weakness...
Again, Germany should crash them...
And you have to agree, Forlán is way more better than to so called "stars" from Holland...
BTW: dont' feel bad about it Alex, my team has never get into a WC. Guatemala has failed time and time again. Edited by jampa17 - July 06 2010 at 16:17 |

In first place, thee's no such thing as Chilena, the official name is CHALACA and was invented in Callao - Perú in the second half of the XIX Century. http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilena_(f%C3%BAtbol) Even in the FIFA,. the name Chalaca is the official, as a fact the hstorian Jorge Basadre describes the play as registered in August 3 1892 in a game between Lima and Callao.
Now, the back kick is illegal when a player is near because it's an extremely dangerous play.

Then it should be illegal to try period.......they were both going after the ball..no foul, no card at all was the correct call.
Get out of the kitchen if u don't like the heat...can't red card everytime someone falls down.

It's not falling down, it's a direct kick in the face

Jajajaja... I don't care who the hell invented it, Iván. I never thought I would see that a Perú player invented. I just know that right from Mexico down to Costa Rica we called "chilena", Mind you, what difference it is. And as you say, it's dangerous, why the defenses want to play kamikaze with it? the rule says nothing about red cards... so, sorry, it was a legal playing...

seen red cards because a chalaca or chilena a couple of times. But again, it's discretion of the referee as the off side you claim, the two players were in the same line and the Dutch player doesn't even touch it, so it's not a robbed game. Iván Edited by Ivan_Melgar_M - July 06 2010 at 16:48 |

Now tomorrow's game is harder.
Both teams are almost with their best players, except Muller and Cesc Fabregas.
I believe Spain can surprise Germany, but not very likely.

I heard in the radio today that Fabregas was injured during yesterday's training.
A bone injury has been ruled (They had to make scans) out, but he's in serious doubt for tomorrow.

Yes tomorrow will be/should be a great game..... Maybe FIFA should adopt the electronic eye line as tennis does now with balls hitting the line, for offsides....but then nobody will hear the beep over the bumblebee horns

Congratulations to Uruguay. They qualified fifth in CONMEBOL and managed to reach semi-finals. Great work they did, they fought until the very last minute, so they have to be happy with their performance. Nice to see Holland in the final match, though I cannot say I like their football right now. |

They did it (along with the artificial field) in the Sub-17 World Cup in Perú 2005 and didn't work, they had to shut them out and now we have to pay a lot of money to change the stadiums back to grass.

The best team won, the final is already looking good. Now I hope tomorrow Deutschland beats Spain, for whom getting this far is good enough, in my view. The final should be Netherlands-Germany and then my heart will be torn. regularly, I'd want Germany to win. But maybe the world of soccer owes the Dutch a title...

Now they are ussing a mixture of artifial field and real grass and many players claimed that this kind of textures increase the risk of injuries, and it's evident. Grass is a natural soft texture that make softer the way of walking. The artificial fields do not protect the players feet...
Most of FIFA's changes in the game are complete cr*p, and those important helps by technology are still denied. Until Blatter leaves, this is not likely to change...

Although I wanted Uruguay to win, I shall support the Netherlands in the final. I'm hoping it'll be a Netherlands vs. Spain final. I dislike Germany and I dislike Spain. I dislike Germany more.
I mean the teams, not the countries or the people in them. Neither the Netherlands or Spain have won the World Cup so it would be great to see a new champion. |

Let's think England finished group stage as a leader.
Then they would have played against Ghana instead of Germany. Most probably win Then Uruguay and probably win Then Netherland in the semi final. it was too close. one accidental goal (hand of a clot) ruined the tourney for them. |

Really don't mind if you sit this one out.
My words but a whisper, your deafness a shout. |

^No, England played horribly. Horribly. They would've never won any important game. They couldn't beat the US remember?
England won ONE world cup centuries ago with help from referees. They have never won a Euro. England is up there with the big ones only because of their 1966 win. They are, statistically, not even close to Germany, Italy or even France.
