What's that?

Check it out.  It's a modern, kind of proggy opera.

Fair enough James, I haven't listened to much of Messaien, and his thing with the birds sort of weirds me out. And if you think it's too repetitive I should definitely avoid it.

Plus it also suffers from what a lot of classical pieces suffer from.  It has different sections which just stop and then a new one starts again.

It's not just one continual flow.

Musically it's very good though.  But as I said, it repeats themes a lot throughout.  More so than even Magma do.

And I only realised today how much Black Oni sounds like Five Suns in a lot of places.

Yeah, that's how most music works. The 45 minute jam is not the natural state of things.

I wouldn't call a continual flow a 45 minute jam as it's not ad libbed.

MDK is far too short. I feel like I only just started it a second ago.

The second half is brilliant, I'm not that fond of the first half. Love the drums on that.

Theusz Hamtaahk (the Retrospektiw I-II version) has the best closer.  Mmmm so damned apocalyptic.

Luckily for me, the Retrospektiw I-II version of M.D.K. also has the same closer as the album version.  Mmmm.

Keep away James, or I'll change them to The Golden Girls.

(them be the ladies of Battlestar Galactica.  if you like Sci-Fi/Thrillers at all, you should start watching the DVDs)
...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

Oh and the alternative recording of M.D.K. is also awesome.

I think my favourite version is the Opéra de Reims version.  Damn that Bernard Paganotti he has the most awesome bass solo known to man on that version.

I need get Retrospektiw I-II, and it's only 28$ at wayside. So tempted, although I have literally 0$ now.
