I've rent two books at the library today.
Post-Tonal Theory and Serial Composition and Atonality.
They seem interesting, but somewhat hard to understand.

Yeah, I want to get more classical music.  The problem is, I also want to get more prog/jazz, too much of everything. LOL

Gabe, I don't know if you saw, but I just ordered two Philip Glass albums (Einstein on the Beach and Music in Twelve Parts), two Steve Reich albums (Music for 18 Musicians and Different Trains/Electric Counterpoint), and one of the two big Gyorgy Ligeti box sets I want.  The Glass albums are my first purchases from him, but I've listened to each in their entirety at least once and enjoyed them.

Reich's Music for 18 Musicians is excellent.
Music in Twelve Parts is better than Einstein.

You love minimalism. Get some Arvö Part and Gòrecki.

Any recommendations of where to start with those two?

Sounds good.  I'll add them to my classical list.

I have no classical music in my collection. It's a shame.
And I have five jazz albums.

I have two jazz albums, no classical either.

I have a decent chunk of jazz (I include fusion in jazz) and...2 classical albums.  Neither comes close to the amount of rock I have so far, though.

I have about a 1 to 10 jazz to rock ratio. I forgot I had a Mahavishnu Orchestra album.

It's only $160 on ReR USA.   As for Ligeti, I ordered the Ligeti Project box now, and if I enjoy it I'll probably get the Ligeti Edition box as well.

Oh good, I was too lazy to check and I was taking your word for it.

And did you know that Derek Bailey adored Webern? It's all connected!
I read about this guy today in The Economist.
