I dont know if this is the appropriate place to post this but I couldnt think of anywhere else.

See me and my band have a sound going and really everything is there but were lacking recognition due to the genre in which we weild.

None of the clubs will take us because were not metal so were just playing random talent shows and really not getting popular.

Were some of the most talented musicians in the area and I was wondering if you guys had any tips.

Since I'm the drummer i'm in charge of extra things so I have even actually went as far as forcing somone to listen to us lol.

This looks to me like the wrong forum (I know I pointed this out to you before, but please read this carefully http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=13082)

How about General Music Discussions or Music or Musicians Exchange instead? I'm moving it to the latter.

I'm not the one to ask on this, but I can tell you one thing. If you are confident of your talent and abilities why are you asking to show yourselves in some bar or sh*t place that you don't like anyway?

Set up a gig across from that bar and do a freebie and get a couple of dancing girls and show the bar ... that they stink. And when they come for you make sure you make them pay you twice the amount!

You either make it on your own, or go do the same as everyone else.

Just decide before you do it, since after that ... it won't matter what you do or where you play ... you already know the most important part of it all ... YOU!  ... and your band!

So, if I may say it in daddy terms ... grow up ...
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Create a myspace site.  Upload tracks (live is fine).  Put music up on youtube if you haven't already.

You're still very young.  If you work hard and smart, then you will gain respect.

I'd like to hear some of your music.  How would you describe it?

You might want to consider moving or travelling to an area in the U.S. where there is a prog scene. For example, in Maryland and Delaware  bands like Crack The Sky perform. Within the area they play, there must also be clubs that book original Progressive Rock. There must be a prog scene in that area. Wayside Music and people into Rio and things of that nature.

This old drummer friend I have is playing a circuit with an Irish folk band. There cd sells at gigs and through their website. He performs on a circuit with folk bands, Blues bands, and sometimes Progresssive rock bands out of Europe. Since he has been playing the circuit, he was asked to join some of the prog bands. They do mostly festivals. If you go the distance, travel to a different area, discover where creative bands perform and get yourself onto that circuit,......someone will eventually back you. I know that Michael Piper RIP...was supportive of White Willow...as such there are guys out there to this day who will back original prog bands....I had the chance to play my film score style music  to a worthy connection in California during the early 90's but, I wouldn't get on a plane.Shocked       You are young so you should get into the thicket. I don't deal with My Space. But I've been approached many times by talent scouts just because they stopped in for a drink during my band's performance. The only way to meet business scouts that are interested in promoting or signing neo prog bands is to get yourself on to the right circuit and stay there for an extended time. You can interest managers that either live in the city or show to the club where an act is performing. Hand him a demo tape and tell him you are playing on the next strip. If he doesn't show, you try again with a different backer. It's tough with prog. Many British prog musicans from the 70's moved to the U.S. because of the taxes in Britian and lack of overhead for the band When Gong played Philadelphia in 2000, Davied Allen needed a ride home and was basically broke that night. Gilli Smyth was holding a bucket where one could donate change. So my friend gave Davied Allen a ride back to N.Y.....He gave him a ride because he had no money and he had just given a performance with Gong. ..Think about it. Think real hard. You can also investigate Norway or France.

Christian DeCamps from Ange said in 2002 that they were once playing 10,000 seaters and now they were confronted with 500 seaters. But, still you might have more of a chance to persue prog rock in Europe where people in the business have a different mind set..

There's too much music out there.  Might want to consider getting a real job. Tongue
But seriously, best of luck.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
