Passing by and have to say this festival has become a bloody farce, is this being organised an discraced directors from the former Lehmans bank? It has become a money grabbing exercise and what once started out as a fabulous dream event with a terrific lineup has become a sham. Ridiculous price for merchandise, drinks, and pissing around with the line up for each day has left a sour taste. whatever happened to the dream of IoW 1970, a 'free' concert when ELP fired their cannons for the first time. If they do fire cannons this time hope they hit the f**kers who are raking in all the money.

There is a heck of a lot of people raking in money on prog rock by inflating their prices.......... But wait a minute !!! Make that one company raking in money by inflating their magazine and festival fees. I don't mind paying for something. What I do object against is paying well over the odds to one company whose profit margins is far higher than most other businesses operates with.

Not neccesarily disputing this, but how do you know what their profit margins are?

Prove it with some hard facts and figures (not estimated)
Going to miss out on a brilliant experience that probably won't be repeated. Nose -cut -spite -face

Just noticed on the High Voltage forum that there is no re-admission to this event. Even with the super-duper high tech bar-coded wristbands, if you leave the park you can't get back in again.
Far be it for me to suggest that this is to stop people nipping out for a pint or some food at a more reasonable price.

At the least this is very annoying at the worst bordeline infringement of human rights in my view. I really wonder if this is enforceable and what if people understandably don't want to use the toilet facilities as provided. I can see this causing quite a stink (I'll get my coat )

Okay I was looking at the Drink prices and most are 2.50 or 4.00 British pounds if I read that correctly. That correlates to roughly $3.60 and 5.50 American. I will tell you yesterday i was at a major league Baseball Stadium and a 12 oz beer was $7.50 or 5.15 British pounds. Seems like a bargain to me what your festival is charging. A mixed drink was $9.00 or 6.2 BP. We bought 3 hot dogs and 1 kids meal and a pretzel with two small beers and two sodas and it was $40.00. or 28.50 British Pounds!

From High Voltage's Facebook page:
Heaven & Hell have confirmed they are returning to High Voltage Festival with guest vocalists Glenn Hughes and Jorn Lande on Sat 24th July 2010 to perform an exclusive 'Tribute To Ronnie James Dio'. This will be an unmissable emotional tribute to a true rock legend that High Voltage are honoured to be associated with |
A fitting tribute to RJD & what will probably be Heaven & Hell/Black Sabbath's (whichever) last show.

Considering beer is over £3 a pint in most London pubs, £4 is about what you'd expect at something like this. I just resent the fact that you can't even take a bottle of water in. I'm going smuggle in Mars Bars sellotaped to my legs.

Jim posted that Opeth were replaced by BigElf, but the HV website still lists Opeth, so I'm assuming (hoping) that Opeth are still playing. I like BigElf, but would rather see Opeth!
See you there Alan..

I think he just meant they had swapped days and stages - they were originally on the prog stage on Saturday.
I'm worried about how they're going to get 30,000 people through the gates (searching them on the way in) in time for the first band at 12:20.
